Would a blackhead mask (those crazy ones) pull a splinter out?

Well, actually, a shard of a barnacle? And some blackberry thorns?

I was a bit foolish at the beach the other day, and my feet are paying the price. It's getting a bit hard to walk, I've tried soaking them, using a needle and tweezers but no joy.

Try softening the skin, drying thoroughly and using some gaffa tape. It's sticky enough to have a good chance of holding onto the thorns so that you can get them out.

Get some magnesium sulphate from the chemist, that draws splinters out like magic.

JaneJeffer · 07/08/2023 02:47

Make a poultice of white bread and boiled milk and keep it in place with a cloth bandage or any cloth you can tie around your foot.

DaftyLass · 07/08/2023 02:59

So far I have done a soak in hot water with mag sulphate, tried to to tweeze/pick, but haven't tried tape
I will also try the bread poultice if the tape doesn't work

If you've already been picking at them you might actually need a medical professional, as they might now be below the surface.

Unless you have a family member/friend who isn't squeamish and might give it a go. Hard to reach it by yourself in the soles of your feet.

LBF2020 · 07/08/2023 05:49

Ouch! Sounds painful 😖 Have you put the mag suplphate on neat with a dressing?

Mumsnut · 07/08/2023 07:11

Comped blister plaster? Will make it easier to walk but also seemed to draw my splinter out a bit

Lovelydovey · 07/08/2023 07:12

Use a calpol syringe doser to pull it out.

FeelingPrickly · 07/08/2023 07:54

Magnesium paste from the chemist and a plaster, it’s like magic.

DisforDarkChocolate · 07/08/2023 07:57

Calpol syringe as a suction device. I fear you have pushed it further in and may need a trip to minor injuries.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/08/2023 08:10

Soften the skin and push it out with the edge of a credit card.

Womblegreen · 07/08/2023 18:01

I came on here to suggest a carpool syringe too.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 07/08/2023 18:07

Blister plasters are brilliant for drawing out splinters etc.

WeeOrcadian · 07/08/2023 18:08

Mag sulphate gets my vote too

And you're best over on Sporner Corner 😁

You can use plantain (weed that grows everywhere, not the vegetable)

Chew or squish it up to release juices, fix it on with plaster or bandage
