i remember every year on holiday passing Walsall football stadium never actually been there

Cyprus. We were leaving Egypt for a direct flight home but had to stop to refuel in Cyprus so all we got to see was the airport but I can definitely say I have been to Cyprus I just did not see anything outside burger king!

Oh and both Singapore and Malaysia on the way to and from Australia. Been to the airports but not been able to leave them.

Baghdad late 80's the quietest airport I've ever stopped at, hardly any staff or other passengers except for our flight, it was such a weird experience.

Moscow mid 80's. We did get a tour of the city, which I vaguely remember.

Dublin aka USA border control

Madagascar. Plane from Paris to Réunion dropped passengers off there en route.

OK we need rules. I think a city tour counts as 'been there'. But passing on a train doesn't.

According to my passports (as in previous ones/current one) I've been to New York several times. I haven't!

Totally recognise this. I've been to the commercial district of so many cities but seen the actual centre of very few. At the time I was working for a multinational company so once inside even the offices all looked the same.
