Noisy house

I live in a new build town town house. It is council. I'm allowed to do alot of stuff. But I will double check if I'm not sure.

Anyway as its a new build the sound proofing is not great . I cant Hear neighbours but its within my own house. There are special needs and mental heath issues in my house and the noise is causing stress. So i want to get it sorted. For now I just want to get 2 bedrooms sorted. 1 is on the 1st floor the other the 2nd floor. (Above each other) at the moment the floors have carpet and underlay.

Any advice on what I can do. I don't want things like large rugs. I need to do something more than that.

Thanks 😊

Well we put styrofoam and wickes soundboard and then re plastered the walls, and I can no longer hear my neighbours. We used the gear the neighbours TV, and they used to bang the walls if my kids cried!! Such lovely people 🙄

Kay Metzler general purpose polystyrene EPS70 2400mmx600x25mm was the name of the polystyrene boards we put behind the soundboard. We did narrow the hall by an inch.. but I don’t want to move anymore.. also we put Rockwool insulation in the floor of our loft conversion and it seriously muffled footfall of my daughter.. i put sound proofing thick underlay on the stairs under carpet. I live normally now as I’ve done all I can to reduce the noise and my new neighbours tell me they can’t hear anything
