Crystal place - parking!

I'm going to the south facing festival on Friday and Saturday next week and need to drive.

Conflicting information - Crystal Palace website says there's free parking on site, but festival info says no parking - trying to find car parks around it seem hard.

Is there anywhere I can park near to the venue and walk or catch a short train:bus ride? Thanks!

I've no idea about the festival specific parking but used to live in CP - there's quite a lot of residential housing around the park where you could theoretically park on a normal day. I believe parking is also free on the roadside at the park entrances - Thicket Rd, Anerley Hill and Crystal Palace Park Road.

However there will be road closures in place for things like this around the park. All the roads I mentioned above where we used to typically park for access will be closed, and certainly no access given to non residential vehicles. My understanding is that during the festival all such spaces are either made resident only (and they ask for proof of this) or access restricted entirely as they don't want attendees to bring a vehicle or disrupt the local population. I really don't think you could reasonably hope to park anywhere near the festival as a non resident. It gets very very busy and CP is busy at the best of times.

Where are you travelling from? Getting to CP park by train or bus is very easy. The overground stop is right next to the park and there are several bus stops adjacent. If you're dead set on taking the car then I think the best you'd manage is pre-booked parking well outside of Crystal Palace entirely and travelling in on public transport to the event. I'd take whatever advice is being given by the event and travel in according to that.

Thank you - I live up north and have to drive. Plus I have to pick up
Children from a relative afterwards so cannot be late.

The festival is currently on with other acts and I've just checked current road closures and all looks open?

The roads aren't closed for residents access but are (or certainly used to be) off limits for non-residents or visitor parking and are marshalled, particularly around the park where one might normally be able to park if visiting.

Id have a look at this for an idea of what that looks like in practice.

If you are prepared to do a longer walk you might get lucky parking a mile or two away in one of the residential roads that allows this (a number of them are permit holders only) but I would I would still expect it to be congested getting through the city and for there to be limited parking in Crystal Palace over a weekend. I suppose if the weather continues to be awful people might give it a miss which might quieten things down a bit but I would recommend following the travel advice the festival give and travel in on public transport, parking elsewhere beforehand if you have to drive and can't come via train.

Hope you find a solution either way!

If they've shut the carparks in the park itself, and will be enforcing residents' parking nearby, then you will have to walk from some distance away.

Do you have any limits on how far you can walk? And which side of the park is the event entrances?

The car parks in the park are shut / just for accessible parking.

all the roads around are residents only. It’s a nightmare as my in laws live on one of those roads and we can’t park outside like usual.

You could try Penge East station car park which is about a 10 min walk from the park. I’m not sure which entrance they’re using for the festival.

Cator Road has lots of parking too but is around a 20 min walk to the park depending on entrance.
