Putting DVDs on SD card

Has anyone successfully done this, i.e. downloaded DVDs to their laptop and dragged them to an SD card so they can be watched on a portable DVD player? (With an SD slot, obviously 😀)

I've done it with CD albums for the car entertainment system but never tried it with DVDs - can you rip them as you would CDs, and what size SD card would I need for, say, 6-8 films?

Thanks for this @Hawkins009 - to clarify, are you saying ca. 3 - 5GB per film, depending on quality?

Thanks for the bump @Summerwhereareyou!

Yes on average depending on the quality and length of the film etc it can vary with the size.

Currently copying some of mine onto a 128Gb USB stick. There is a programme called Handbrake which I use. Also you are unlikely to be able to copy anything Disney due to the security which they put on their DVDs and sometimes other films will not copy either. You can probably copy them to an SD card too using the same programme.

Back in the day, and depending on your jurisdiction for legality, it was clonedvd and anydvd software.
