A dental question

I was in the dentist's chair for 1.5 hours on Tuesday. After the procedure she said I'd a strong tongue and had to really force it back. Since then, my tongue feels bruised, although it looks okay and doesn't seem swollen, but it's really sore all along the left side, to the extent I can barely eat or talk. Has anyone experienced similar? I thought it would be improved by now. I rang dentist two days ago and she said to take anti inflammatories, which I'm doing, but no real improvement.

That’s normal - your tongue is a muscle - I imagine you’ve strained it by fighting the dental mirror/drill. We have to retract the tongue otherwise it would be cut by the drill so unavoidable really

Thanks. Just hoping it settles soon!

Still no improvement at all and it'll be a week tomorrow morning. Struggling to eat and talk with it.

sorry to hear that! If it’s not improving then I would ring the dental practice and see what they suggest. Are you sure it’s not been (accidentally) cut by the drill or ulcerated by a sharp piece of filling/tooth? The filling is not always perfectly smooth if the dentist is fighting with the tongue / you can’t feel it at the time as it’s numb
