They have all ex-Made stock on there. Wondering if it’s any good or everything will come broken to pieces!

Not personally but a friend of mine does and she raves about the items she's bought. Never heard her say a bad word.

I have. I had a Made chair from there and a John Lewis dining table. I would say go and look first though, as some of the stuff is wrecked.

I haven't but my parents used them several times pre-covid.They were always really pleased and got some fantastic bargains, but they limited their purchases to new, boxed (often liquidation) stock. They made sure to screenshot the exact item they bid on, as once JP tried to insist their item was the one with the battered/torn box rather than the perfect looking one (resolved fine I believe). They also live close enough to be able to pick up their items themselves.

The charges and delivery seem huge!

Make sure you understand all the extra costs. What looks cheap ..is not necessarily cheap. We have a local one so able to view the items .

I've bought quite a few of the made.com items and nothing has been damaged. Agree with PP that once you add on the delivery and buyers premium you will pay a good bit more than your bid price. They don't combine delivery fees for the larger items either. I managed to get a lovely desk for about 1/3 of the RRP though.

I haven't but I used for work for an auction house.

Make sure you read the fees fully. There is a buyers fee PLUS VAT as well as delivery PLUS VAT. VAT is often not quoted as part of the fee but is auto added if you purchase and deliver within UK.

Commission can be steep.

I have - you can find some good bargains but beware of all the extra fees added onto the hammer price, plus the delivery charges are extremely high. If I lived near one of their auction houses I'd probably buy a lot more!

Yep this!
Would go and have a look at the actual
Item first as I've seen cracked mirrors, broken/scratched furniture etc.
Some great bargains to be had though as long as you factor in paying about double the bid price.

I only have to see the name John Pye and feel sick, but that's because my DP, which has ADHD and hoarding tendencies, repeatedly buys huge boxes of stock. We're talking a box of 30 toilet roll holders at once, 29 of which end up cluttering our house as he refuses to get rid. Hence, I'm rather soured on the whole company and, if it weren't a huge betrayal of his autonomy, I would wish there was a way I could contact them and beg them to blacklist him.

However, the quality is usually 90% decent I think and, tbf, he has scored some pretty good bargains.

John Pye auctions buyers beware.Often list lot’s with photos not actually showing the real state of items listed very often items, broken or not the number that should be in the box or faulty so buyers please beware I have been out of pocket by an awful lot because on the photos it showed a box of lights which I paid a lot for if fact only 1 light delivered.A box of duvet covers also one was badly ripped unusable should have shown on photographs but hidden they just say should’ve gone to look before but if it’s a long way to the auction, you should be able to bid with confidence online and trust the post that they put on there.
