I'm used to most odd things as it's a student city. Can't work out if this is a bit of fun or really creepy. He's pulling out a toy plastic trumpet and standing next to buskers miming them. HmmHmmHmmHmm

We get all the bonkers people in Nottingham lol ... went for a spa day last year and there was a cos play convention on in the hotel - hundreds of amazing costumes lol 😆

tallsmallmum · 01/08/2023 19:06

Nottingham has a history of this you've just unlocked some memories for me lol

Used to see the guy dressed up as a cowboy with the fake parrot on his shoulder brandishing a cucumber but I think he died a few years back

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/08/2023 19:33

Bristol used to have Stan The Man. He was usually dressed in a pair of gold budgie smugglers and roller skates.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 01/08/2023 21:15

@tallsmallmum do you remember xylophone man?

Hellocatshome · 01/08/2023 21:19

There is a man where I live who walks to the shops in various onsies. I have seen him as batman, superman, flash, a minion, hulk, beetlejuice etc he is completely harmless. Live and let live.

I remember him. I used to work in HMV on Lister Gate, and he was always there by C&A. Nice old boy, perfectly harmless.

Creepy. Clowns always are.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 01/08/2023 21:21

Apparently he's protesting against celebrity chefs now...

Maybe he was harmless. Clowns aren't though . They're evil bastards. I would support a clown cull.

Yes that's him!! So happy doing his little flourishes on his xylophone! He wouldn't recognise that strip of empty shops now Confused

I can't believe it's been so long since he died

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 01/08/2023 21:27

No way!!! That's so sweet! I've never noticed a plaque. I'm going to look for it next time I'm in town Blush

Toddlerteaplease · 01/08/2023 21:28

I'm so glad he has such recognition. A trip to town wasn't a real trip to town unless you heard/saw the xylophone man Blush

lljkk · 01/08/2023 21:38

One town in north Norfolk has frequent visits from Spiderman. It's been a point of ... much discussion.

RumNotRun · 01/08/2023 22:38

South Wales has a guy that wears a loin cloth type thing and carries a cross ( on wheels) He apparently walks between Newport and Cardiff. We also, in Cardiff, used to have Toy Mike Trev who used to sing with one of those toy karaoke mikes. RIP TMT.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 01/08/2023 23:26

We have a chap who dresses up as spider man. Someone decided to be a grumpy arsehole and tried to stop him, but our local Facebook page told him to keep doing it because the kids thought it was awesome.

FredaFox · 02/08/2023 06:54

In Manchester we have hit that cycles rounding with a ghetto blaster on the back playing the tunes

Bbq1 · 02/08/2023 07:06

In Liverpool we have cardboard guitar man...he 'plays' a cardboard guitar while 'singing' but he has an amazing selection of themed suits - batman one day, Minions the next!!

BitOutOfPractice · 02/08/2023 07:10

In the 80s Wolverhampton used to have a very full on cowboy. Chaps, a stetson, the works. He carried a very loud boom box. I often wonder about him still.
