Low iron/ferritin

Hi everyone,

I have posted here before about B12 as I am low in both. Deficient in B12 and have been having injections, however haven't done anything about my iron yet.

My ferritin is 19, however my haemoglobin is normal. The doctor said I don't need any treatment but my symptoms are crushing tiredness and complete exhaustion all of the time, no matter how much sleep, headaches, dizziness etc. I'm not sure if it's the low B12 or the low ferritin that is causing it or the low ferritin but I guess it's both! I read the NICE guidelines that said anything under 30 should be treated so I reached out to a private doctor for a second opinion as they hold an anemia clinic. They said based on my ferritin I would be eligible for an iron infusion.

The cost of this is a little over £700 which I don't have. I am prepared to put it on my credit card if it's going to make me feel a lot better, as it's my health and probably worth it. However I'm just wondering if I should just order some liquid iron instead and see if that is enough? Has anyone had any good results with this? I know the infusion is better as there can be problems with absorption and other things with the tablet and liquid form, and the infusion will get my levels up a lot higher. Is it really worth paying all that money, or could some supplementation work?

I am worried because my haemoglobin is normal will an infusion/tablets make it go too high?! I am iron deficient but not anemic so I'm not sure how it works. Does anyone have a better understanding of this and can give me any advice?
