What do you love about a bungalow?

Hello all. I've lived in two storey houses all my life. I am soon to move into a lovely little bungalow and it feels beyond strange and I'm wondering if I have made a mistake or I will get used to it.

Please let me know what you love about bungalows/living in a bungalow! Perhaps it'll make me feel a bit less panicked!

@TheDuchessOfMN im working on getting a door to my garden. Love the idea that I could sit in bed and have the door open.

yes our bungalow is much warmer than our last house. It heats up quicker as well. So the heating isn’t in for. Very long.

We were forced to move to a bungalow as my mobility deteriorated. Having no stairs is wonderful! Stairs also take away a lot of space.
It's easier to look after. Our bungalow is a decent size and the rooms are all bright as they have good sized windows. Bungalows are usually on good size plots, too.
I love living in a bungalow. Hope you do, too, OP.

Never ever did I think I would end up in a modern bungalow - having always lived in older houses with "character". Love love love 💕 my bungalow.

Maintaining everything is easier, guttering can be reached by ladder, all the windows can be cleaned by me, no need to pay anyone.

A big YES to looking out onto the garden from my bed!

I felt "at home" as soon as I moved my stuff in.

Don't wish I'd done it years ago, because years ago my perfect little bungalow would not have been on the market 😎 It was the right time and the perfect location.

@EmotionalSupportWyrm thats really reassuring to me too, I’ve always lived in period houses and really love their character so good to know I’ll be able to grow to love the bungalow! Already love the garden there so that’s already a win, just need to put my own stamp on the actual building

Thank you so much for these replies. Very reassuring! The grounds are much bigger than we are used to which we love. We also have little people and I'm sure the no stairs aspect will be great for that too.

I love the common theme of not hoovering stairs or decorating staircases as I didn't realise the hassle this was 😅

I grew up in a bungalow and my mother still lives in it. In fact, the only reason that she is still able to live there is because it is a bungalow and has no stairs.

I've lived in two storey houses for much of my adult life whilst bringing up our three DDs. Now that they are all grown up I really can't wait to downsize and move back to a bungalow. I so miss bungalow living and have never been the nimblest person on stairs. I think I will start to struggle on them more as I age.

I love our bungalow which we have because I have mobility issues.

My favourite thing is that, compared to houses I've lived in before, you don't have that thing in the summer where the upstairs is roasting hot at night!
