Does anyone else love the sound of rain through an open window when tucked up in bed?

I love listening to the sound of rain when I haven't got to be out in it.

It's relaxing and joyful.

Yes just not in July!!!

I don’t think I’ve not fallen to sleep to the sound of rain for over a week…

Neverseenbefore · 30/07/2023 21:55

No, I always think the roof or gutters will be leaking (cos they usually are).

BaroldBalonz · 30/07/2023 21:57

Not right now, we're supposed to be harvesting 😭😭😭

I'm going to be the first person to say no. It raises my anxiety. I think it stems from previously living somewhere where there was a bit of a leaky roof, so I got stressed whenever it rained.

I will join you in saying no. I used to, but am currently waiting for my 3rd roof leak to be fixed so it just makes me feel anxious. Even once it's been fixed I'll still feel a little anxious.

I also love it. I suffer from insomnia and listening to rain sounds is the only thing that shuts out the unwanted noise in my head so I can fall asleep. I find it utterly relaxing.

We have several velux windows in our bedroom roof. I love listening to rain on them x

Reading all the posts from those you love the sound of rain, I am now really bloody annoyed that my leaky roof has robbed me of being able to feel all safe and cosy while lying in bed listening to the rain.

I love the sound of the rain pounding the windows when tucked up inside. I also love walking in heavy rain when I know I’m heading home, not so much if I’m heading to work and get pissed on by a surprise downpour.

This. But I have also been known to go for a walk in a downpour. Its just so refreshing.

We are in the loft and its great to here the rain when it storms. I always imagine I'm a victorian street urchin who's found a cosy shelter for the night (he the main character in the book I'm writing)

imapterodactyl · 30/07/2023 22:26

I love it. It's great that my bedroom has a velux so even light rain makes a bit of noise.
My DS has recently discovered the joy for himself and loves going to bed when it's raining and tells me how cosy he feels.
I've previously lived in a very leaky flat but I think the trauma of finding bath towels to plug the gaps in doors and buckets for light fittings has finally left me.

Yes, love it! I also love when it rains when I'm camping. Just me, in my very comfy tent, cosy and warm, listening to the rain.

Theoldwoman · 30/07/2023 22:30

Absolutely, I think everyone does.

On a tin roof too. Very relaxing!

cuckyplunt · 30/07/2023 22:32

I do love the noise of rain, but I am getting a bit tired of it this Summer.

postingwithlove · 30/07/2023 22:32

LOVE IT

Same here! My gutters are shot to shit so I just lie there getting more and more stressed Blush

I love it! If I can’t sleep I play YouTube recordings of rainstorms

I do that too I like the rain and thunder ones . I sometimes think it's worth having a conservatory just for the sound of rain 🥰
