I'm away overnight with the family in London and seem to have come down with the vomiting bug Dd had last weekend. Dh will have to take the kids to the things booked tomorrow. But what can I do all day?! Hotel will kick us out at 10am. It's hours on a bus with no loo to get home. This sucks!!!!

You’ll need to stay in the room until you’re better, can’t see what other option you have.

DoughnutDreams · 30/07/2023 03:05

I would try and book an extra night in the hotel.

This. I'd not be moving at all. I had this at 36 weeks pregnant with a toddler so I can sympathise.

Hi @Orangeinmybluelightcup you can sit in the foyer area, no one should say anything. You'll have access to the loo's. Hope you feel better soon x

Could be worse op you could be in a tent!

Send your DH out to a pharmacy for anti-diahorrea and anti-emetic drugs and a supply of sick bags for the way home.

That's if you can't just extend your stay, which is what I would do.

Orangeinmybluelightcup · 30/07/2023 07:28

The good news is the room check out is 12 not 10.

Is it diarrhoea too or just vomiting? Vomiting may be easier to manage on the trip home if you get some sick bags for emergencies. Could you book in for an extra night at the hotel to recover a bit more before the trip?

Mylobsterteapot · 30/07/2023 07:37

Please don’t get in a coach home and spread it to everyone else.

kegofcoffee · 30/07/2023 07:44

Do you have travel insurance? Or does your bank provide it as part of your account? You may be able to get them to cover an extra night and travel home on a different day.

In the meantime, I'd get DH to go to reception and explain the situation. If they aren't fully booked they may allow you to have the room through the afternoon or be able to provide another space that's available. At the end of the day the hotel and coach provider won't want to spreading a sickness bug around that could potential lead to bad reviews/press.

blahblahblah1654 · 30/07/2023 07:46

I agree with pp. Please try and stay an extra day. It's really unfair to risk spreading it to dozens of people on a coach.

Astromelia · 30/07/2023 07:49

Have to stay longer, I agree that it’s just too unkind to spread it around people on public transport.

bryceQ · 30/07/2023 07:56

Can you ask for late checkout and have the room till 3pm ish? It might have stopped by then. You poor thing what rotten luck ☹️

Orangeinmybluelightcup · 30/07/2023 07:58

I haven't been sick since 2am but do feel sick. Yes trying to see if we can all stay another night.

Dh and kids can't go home without me easily because there's a 1.5hr drive after the bus. I'd be stranded.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 30/07/2023 08:45

Can't they go home and come and collect you from the bus when you're feeling better? Or does DH not drive?

caringcarer · 30/07/2023 09:25

Hopefully you can just book an additional night. Get DH to chemist to get you Imodium and Dyoralite.
