Does your accent change when you get angry?

I was born and brought up in Edinburgh, to Scottish parents. I have a fairly neutral accent, and most people have no idea that I’m Scottish. Have lived down in London for many years.

When I get angry, and I might raise my voice, all of a sudden I sound very Scottish! I never speak like that normally. As a young child I did sound Scottish, but boarding school at studying at St Andrews got that out of me.

Is this my ‘real’ accent?

Ha I sound more Glaswegian when angry, or drunk, or excited or... any emotion really. So yes I think your "real" accent comes out at these times!

I am Welsh and have not lived there for decades. My accent having worked all over the world is now I would say a generic "English" accent unless I'm pissed off. I am pure Cardiff 🤣

Most definitely! I've lived in Wales since I was a young child and my accent is quite neutral, but get me riled up and you'll be hearing a Northerner.
