Really want to stick to a plan this week to avoid buying crap takeaways.

if you have a food diary would you mind sharing it?

I have porridge and cherries for breakfast, salmon/veggie tagine with salad for lunch, chicken thighs/scrambled egg/scampi and mixed veg for tea, and dried prunes and natural yoghurt for pudding. I also have chilli and coriander prawns and guacamole sometimes (I'm in the middle of losing weight, but you could easily add carbs to the meals).

I plan and shop for my own lunches and snacks to bring to work, or I end up getting a shit, calorific meal deal and eating a lot of chocolate!

For dinners I loosely plan a week ahead, based on what we are all doing that week, who’s home, who’s cooking, whether it needs to be quick, ‘bung in the oven’ stuff or I can spend more time cooking.

I haven’t planned for next week yet, but last week was:

Sun: Lasagne & salad
Mon: Prawn & veg noodle stirfry
Tue: Salmon & roasted veg
Wed: BBQ chicken, jacket potatoes, corn on the cob & salad
Thu: Pizza for teens, omelette & salad for me
Fri: Tortellini (shop one) & salad for teens, grilled Halloumi & salad for me
Tonight: Jerk chicken, rice & peas, coleslaw & plantain.

I low-carb most of the week so often don’t have much or any of the carbs and fill up on more salad or veg instead. Made an exception for lasagne though Grin

Breakfast I have a green ‘juice’ - bung spinach, kale, cucumber, apple, fresh mint and iced water in the blender. Not for everyone but I love it this time of year.

Lunches are a salad with protein (grilled Halloumi, marinated chicken, teriyaki salmon, spicy prawns, frittata etc) prepped the night before. Fruit & nuts for snacks.

We do a weekly food plan and shopping list and plan the meals for the week. A typical week might look like this:

Monday - Spag Bol
Tuesday - chickpea and spinach curry
Wednesday - Cajun chicken traybake
Thursday - salmon stir fry and noodles
Friday - homemade pizza
Saturday - enchiladas and nachos
Sunday - roast or a bbq

We try to plan different and slightly more 'treaty' food for weekends to avoid the temptation of the takeaway.

I tend to have salads for lunch, Dh makes sandwiches or takes leftovers. In the holidays the dcs make pasta/eggs/sandwiches and during term time they use the canteen at school.

Breakfast and lunches I don't plan for specifically I just have a range of bread products (most freezer and just take out when needed), fruit, salad stuff, cheeses, eggs and the usual store cupboard stuff.

I also only ever plan 6 nights out of 7. This is to allow for changes in plans, we eat out, have left overs to use up, don't fancy a full blown meal and just have toasties or something. If we need the 7th meal we have a well stocked freezer and store cupboards to can easily rustle something up.

Next week we have
Roast gammon - if the weather is horrible I'm going with the usual roast with all the trimmings.
Should summer actually make an appearance I'll do it with a pineapple and chilli glaze and salads.
Broccoli, leek and left over gammon crumble with green beans and peas.
Homemade tuna, sweet potato and chilli fish cakes with salad.
Cauliflower, chickpea and red pepper curry and rice.
Beef tomatoes stuffed with herby orzo and mozzarella with roasted Mediterranean veg.
Spicy bean quaesidilla with sweetcorn and pepper salad, salsa, guacamole and sour cream.
