Any Vinted selling tips?

I've been selling on Vinted for a while & managed to make a good amount in the past, but it's just not shifting now! I currently have 130+ items on there & could really do with the money for holiday next week!

Does anyone have any good tips? I'm currently uploading after 'work hours' ie 5pm & weekend mornings, but almost nothing is selling!

It is mainly children's clothes (from 9 yo DS), men's clothes & a few ladies bits. Plus a few random items (can share username if anybody wants to check it out!)

List on Saturday and things relevant to the season so eg now holiday clothes, beach bags, summer stuff not winter clothes.

If it's been listed for a while take it down and relist.

Allthescreens · 27/07/2023 09:16

Thanks, I have tried to do those things, but with little success.

With taking things down & relisting - I have done this a few times, but not sure if it makes them more visible? As seems to just push them further down my listings 🤔

It's so frustrating, I have literally boxes of stuff & if I sold it all, I would have the spending money I need for holiday 😂

Check how good your photos are. Also things tend to go if they are rock bottom prices. Good luck!

Mintearo7 · 27/07/2023 09:20

I think Vinted has become too saturated. Great for buying, not great for selling. What about bundles of clothes on Facebook marketplace? Olio app also allows selling now as
well.

Allthescreens · 27/07/2023 09:56

My Vinted now doesn't seem to be working this morning! So am trying FB. Limited success with this lately, but worth a try, I guess. Will have a look at Olio too.

Ok, working again, so I'm off to take some more photos!

It's definitely slower since the pandemic.

Also you are getting to the point with your DS where he's ageing out of second hand, they get awkward sized and particular about what they want so I stopped buying so much second hand by that age.

In order to sell you need good photos in good light, preferably brands, I donate the majority of DS1's clothes now he is older as they simply don't sell in the same way.

Delete things and re-upload doing just a couple every day rather than doing 20 in one go. That "bumps" them up to the top.

Bundle stuff that’s cheap and not selling (I know people can buy a bundle but I’ve found just listing a load of kids clothes in one listing gets things going)

ensure pics are good

if you really want it gone, just slash the prices

Jk987 · 27/07/2023 10:18

Make sure the price is right. Once the buyer factors in postage and the Vinted fee, the total can double and is no cheaper than buying a new item!

Creased and discoloured clothing is off putting too.

Tulips2507 · 27/07/2023 10:18

Reupload last day of the month (pay day for most people!).
But I agree, it's very slow at the moment. I don't even get views on most things.

Probably being a bit dim, but how do I do that? So, for example, I currently have 5 pairs of 7-8 shorts listed for £1-2 each (already sold about 5 pairs). Different brands ranging from supermarket to Regatta. So should I take a photo of all of them together & relist for say £6 for all? Or is there a way of bundling the listings I already have?

Good idea, will try to reupload tomorrow/Saturday. Unfortunately I'm working so not much time to devote to it, but will try!

Yeah you would have reshoot and relist. It’s a pain, but ime it does get stuff sold. It’s annoying because you can build a bundle as a buyer but I’m not sure that everyone does this. Also I think bundles appeal because they look like more of a bargain. Ensure u size up the postage if doing bundles xx

minutemouse · 27/07/2023 10:32

For me I only ever filter to new with tags or without tags for kids clothes. If they're used make sure they are cheap enough that with the £2.50 delivery fees it's worth it.

minutemouse · 27/07/2023 10:33

As others mentioned, creased clothes will automatically make me skip past

sunshinesupermum · 27/07/2023 10:38

Why do lots of people favourite an item but then never put in an offer, even with low priced items?

PrimalLass · 27/07/2023 10:46

Because it affects the algorithm of other things you will be shown and also because they might be watching lots of the same thing.

If I’m looking for a certain thing, I will favourite them as I find them and will sometimes then buy the one that is cheapest/in best condition/the seller responded to my question. I don’t then always remember to unfavourite the ones I didn’t buy.

sunshinesupermum · 27/07/2023 10:49

Thanks PrimalLass it's frustrating to get a bunch of favourites and even lowering price/bumping doesn't make a sale. I've done quite well both selling and buying so I guess it's a matter of luck?

sunshinesupermum · 27/07/2023 10:51

I do forget that everything is in competition! Shinyandnew1

RegentCafe · 27/07/2023 10:57

Add new items everyday- that increases views on your other items
Sell cheap
Send offers to those who favourite (need to be on the app)
Dont just slash a price-unless it has lots of favourites- reupload it

mistermagpie · 27/07/2023 11:00

I buy A LOT on vinted.

Photos matter. Some people list stuff with blurry photos, the cat in the background, the flash reflecting of something, the room in near-darkness etc, it's really frustrating as a buyer and I just automatically ignore those listings because I can't be bothered asking for more photos. Take them in proper daylight, without distracting things in the background and if not on a mannequin (for clothes) then hung op or laid out fully. It's also good to include measurements if you can, I just lay a tape measure next to them.

Price matters. I've been looking at items that are only £2 second hand less than you'd pay for a new one. I tend to price things at £15 (say) and know I'd take £10, so there is room to make offers to interested people.

Uniqueness matters. I'm selling a jacket from Zara and there are lots of the same one on Vinted just now, so I've not had much interest. I can't do anything about that but I can make sure my photos are the best and my price is good.

Reviews matter. For an item where there are a few to choose from I pick the person with the most good reviews. I pretty much won't buy from anyone who has negative feedback as a seller. I have loads of reviews but most are as a buyer, but people don't see that when they just look at the stars, so you can buy a bunch of cheap stuff and up your reviews that way too.

Being active matters. I tend to offer on items where the seller has been active recently because you know they are invested and invested people probably respond and send stuff out quicker too.

Those are my top tips but it really depends what you're selling and how many other people are selling that same thing.

sunshinesupermum · 27/07/2023 10:38

I tend to favourite stuff that crops up on my newsfeed and then will buy a bunch of stuff on payday. Even if something is listed as £1 it can be about £5 once you add the delivery and fees.

I also buy stuff is a seller adds something else I want, bundles save on postage.

sunshinesupermum · 27/07/2023 11:05

I hadn't appreciated the extra cost of postage even though I'm a buyer myself mistermagpie. I haven't yet got the hang of selling bundles!

drpet49 · 27/07/2023 11:07

Vinted in now the online version of a car boot sale. Everyone wants everything for 50p or £1.
