Tonight is my last night in the house I've lived in for 24 years

It's the house my dc grew up in, the house my dh died in, the house I've loved - and, at times, hated in equal measure . I don't quite know how to feel.

I'm trying to embrace the "it's an exciting new chapter" outlook but it currently just feels like lots of endings :(.

I hear you 100%. Moved out of a home last November which I had lived in much less than you - 9 years. It was private rented as well so not even ‘mine’, but I’d moved there just as I’d got divorced in my mid 20s and DS was in primary school. During my time there I had more heartbreak of various nature, and lots of happy times too. DS grew up there and I also did a lot of growing up to be honest. When me and new DH bought the bigger, better house and moved in last year I was devastated to leave my old house whereas DH was perplexed.

I second the taking the video saying goodbye, mine was like a house tour 😂 I have looked back on it a few times actually and feel fondness towards it but equally we are making new memories in the new house.

be gentle on yourself the next few days/weeks, i definitely felt grief for my old house.
