Am I being horrible

I have a large pool in my back garden. Next doors kids just asked if they can go in. I said no. I feel bad now . The reason is they are quite rough in how they play. Like damaging the fencing. Throwing cans from the window etc . I know that's not the pool but im worried the pool could get damaged it was alot of money. I worry about kids in water as well and it being my responsibility to watch them all.

I did tell them maybe we can sort something when the weather is a bit better.

You have mentioned the fence like 3 times . Nothing to do with being sensitive

I don't understand why the Op is being cross examined so much!

Op you have done the right and sensible thing.

What is your actual problem?? You're literally piling on the OP and harassing her over something that isn't the point of the thread.

The fence is not damaged enough for repair. But had I not told them . Then it would have been damaged more .

We've had to say no to kids from the village coming up to ours. I do feel bad because it'd be nice for them, but we're not a public pool and I don't have time to watch them or play lifeguard. What would you do if one of them got hurt or god forbid drowned? It's not worth the risk with other people's children.

CoinsinaJar · 27/07/2023 13:34

Regardless of potential for damage to your property and the pool itself, would you be liable if they got injured (or drowned!) whilst on your property? They would need to be closely supervised by their own parent (not you!) if they were allowed to use your pool. Use the "no insurance" excuse if they ask again.
