2 hours to kill near King's Cross

Me, dh, ds aged 10.

We misjudged our train times and have 4 hours between getting off one train in King's Cross and getting on the Eurostar. Eurostar says 1.5 hrs for check it so that gives us 2.5 hours extra.

Any suggestions for what we can do? We don't have masses of luggage.

Thank you!

Wellcome Collection and the Francis Crick Institute are both shut on a Monday but Coal Drops Yard is nice, the British Library Treasures Gallery is lovely, and the BL shop and the Platform 9 3/4 shops are great

British Library Treasures room or other exhibition there? It's just along from St Pancras. Or one stop (i think) on the Piccadilly line to Russell Square and a quick look in the British museum? Might be queues though. Camley Road nature reserve around the back of Kings Cross? It's free.

I love the Camley Road Nature Reserve.

Also another vote for the Wellcome Collection. I went to a really gruesome exhibition about the history of syphilis. The worst/best thing was a Victorian display of painted wooden carvings of an unfortunate soul in various stages of the disease. It was intended for a fairground both titillate and warn people to stick on the path of righteousness. The faces were behind red velvet curtains and you had to pull a cord to reveal them; each one worse than the last. The last one was horrifying in its full nose-rotting glory. And all free.

Wander around the redeveloped King's Cross and Coal Drops Yard. There's a nature reserve, canal walk, canal museum and plenty of bars and restaurants!

Shopping - there's loads of shops in St Pancras station and a few in King's Cross.
