How far do you travel to the gym?

Thinking of joining a new gym that's opened near-ish me because it's MUCH nicer, bigger, has loads more classes that appeal to me, and at more convenient times.

Current gym is a 5 minute drive/20 minute walk and costs £30pm. New gym is £100pm a month, and about a 20 minute drive away though. Wondering if that's too far to travel for a gym really? I'd want to go 5 days a week. Also thinking that if I go to a 45 or 60 minute class or workout that's going to take 2 hours out of my day. Or is this normal for most people going to the gym?

I couldn't be arsed driving 20 mins there and back, it's an extra 40 mins on your trip and it would make me less likely to find the time to go.

Mine is 5 mins drive up the dual carriageway.

About a 4 minute walk. We couldn't really live much closer to the sports centre! Makes it very convenient and definitely helps me go regularly.

the fact people drive 5 mins to the gym is ridiculous. Get a bike or walk!

I go before picking my son up from after school club, it's easily a 30 min walk each way, I haven't got time to do that and pick him up on time. I have I had to factor in an hour of travelling every time I went I wouldn't go, simple as that.

15 mins drive. I go for the heated outdoor pool and it’s wonderful.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 23/07/2023 19:43

5 min drive or cycle, you can take short cuts if cycling, or about a 15 min walk.

it’s a cheap one, £20 a month, no way I’d be paying £100 for monthly gym membership. Seems very steep.

8 minute walk into the city centre. £20 per month, including unlimited classes.

20 minute walk, 8 minute cycle. 20 minute drive is too far.
