Best bra for larger boobs

Morning all.
I need advice please...
I've gained weight due to steroids (been on them 3 years) but now off them - yay - however I can't seem to lose the sterry belly or the large boobs. The sterry belly which starts under my boobs would look so much better if my boobs were lifted up a few inches but when I adjust my bra straps I end up with under boob chafing or bare boob underhang... it ain't pretty, also its uncomfortable hoisting them up. I've tried decent all in one shape wear but I then end up with huge cups which do encompass them but a saggy shape -wear body. I need something firm but not so tight that I have bits of skin squeezing out around my underarms.
I tried some of the bras that have been on the Internet but they were no good. Probably be okay for larger women with no surrounding fat but back in the real world not so good.
Anyone in the same boat or cup! Has anyone found the holy grail of bras?...if so do please share..I'm sick of hoisting and rubbing and doing that upper body twisty dance all the time.

Panache bras might be worth a try OP if you’ve not used them before, I find they give good support at the sides too.

Beaniebeemer · 24/07/2023 15:38

I like Goddess Bras

neilyoungismyhero · 24/07/2023 17:37

Thanks. I had some good suggestions but as M&s is the only place in town that does fittings that's where I went today thinking they were better than nothing.
I'll have a look at everything tomorrow that's been recommended, so fed up with under boob, wobbly top boobs, fat wobbly underarms and back.

No one mentions Boob or Bust anymore. I used their sizing method and then experimented with a few bras from BraStop, to find my perfect fit, which is from Freya.

M&S have no specialist knowledge.

I had to try a lot of different styles. Im 34GG in my favourite style but get a few sister sizes to check, as there can be a big difference between brands.

Camdenish · 24/07/2023 17:45

I’d imagine you’ve got under boob because your band size is too big. M&S are renowned for it.

I think Royce do online fittings. Their bras have no wires and the sizing is particularly different to others.

I don’t think most manufacturers use the add a 4 “or 5 “ rule anymore do they?

Try next online. I order loads and then I can try them on in the comfort of my bedroom. They do lots of different brands and itbisbreally easy to return. I usually order 4 bras at a time each in several sizes eg 36f 36ff 36g. Maybe a band size up and one down. Last time I ordered 18 bras, found 2 that fitted well and sent the rest back. Once they had been returned I ordered another couple each of the ones that had fit well.
With.the next account you can order, pay nothing upfront and send back all before the amount appears on your account so you only pay for what you keep.
As an aside I have found Panache Full cup styles to be best for me after years of trying different brands.
Next do a huge range of Panache

Definitely get fitted at Bravissimo.

luckylavender · 24/07/2023 17:56

I'm a 36f / used to be H & I swear by the Triumph Doreen. Don't knock it until you've trued it.

REP22 · 24/07/2023 18:02

Triumph Doreen bras have been excellent for me too.

embolass · 24/07/2023 18:13

Elomi Morgan !!!!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 24/07/2023 18:38

Another Elomi fan here. I like Matilda and have it in several different colours now. My tip would be to get measured properly not M&S, find a bra you like then look for last season's colours on eBay or buy from BraStop.

neilyoungismyhero · 24/07/2023 19:55

Yes going to do that.
Thanks for all the support.

Bravissimo do online fittings.

Not exactly sure how it works, but given that in store they just look at you and go 'I think you are a 32J' and they are right, presumably its like that with a discussion of what you are looking for and then you can have a selection posted to you.

Haven't seen a tape measure in a bra fitting since, well, I stopped going to M+S.

Elomi Morgan and I learned to measure myself correctly using the Reddit forum called "A Bra That Fits". It's the first time I've had a bra that lifts and separates my ample cleavage instead of smushing it all into one blob. My back pain has eased a lot since getting a proper fit too.

Decent bras can feel stiff when you first try them on due to the way the material is treated. After a wash they feel much softer and it's worth persisting as you soon forget you're wearing them.

I second this,it's a brilliant bra.

neilyoungismyhero · 24/07/2023 20:26

Has anyone gone for the virtual fitting ?

@Brafit that looks amazing!!
I’ve recently bought some Molke Flexifit and love them for comfort and they are actually surprisingly uplifting and supportive. 34HH here. That Elomi bra though could turn me back to underwired for more dressy occasions.

lapisamethyst · 24/07/2023 20:31

Prima Donna bras are fabulous, but pricey

Thighdentitycrisis · 24/07/2023 20:51

I would also recommend Bravissimo. They’re not good for sale prices but great for fitting. I always spend ages trying on and putting my top on over any bra I try too.

you will need to work out what style suits you best and meets what shape you want. I prefer to minimise my 30 f’s and always go for balconette “side support” cups made of 4 pieces. They push them to front facing rather than hold it all in with a full cup giving a rounder shape
