Do people on here make you feel inferior?

With their strong opinions, knowledgeable comments on things like politics and the economy, successful careers and seemingly "high end" lives? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it (and I know there'll be the odd bullshitter too) but does anyone ever read people on here and just feel a bit, well... shit?

There’s two different things going on in your post.

People who know stuff: I enjoy being told things I didn’t know, but yes, I am a bit awestruck.

People who show off about their high-end kitchens etc, I don’t respect.

You have to realise that some people come here to exercise their vanity; intellectual, economic, social or otherwise.

Other people's need for internet validation will never diminish my real life accomplishments.

Not at all. Some people might know more about some things, I know more about other things. No-one here has my life experience or the relevant life experience for some things, so no, not inferior ever. Just me.

People say anything on the internet, I wouldn't let it bother you.

Some people love to post about how rich/beautiful/accomplished they are on anonymous forums... Who knows if it is true!

There are people I've learned from and respect from the feminist boards.

But that aside there are so many bullshitters and wannabees, particularly on the "how much do you earn" threads. And the "how to be middle class" threads. My advice would be to take it with a LARGE pinch of salt.

If these people were so great, and so successful do you really think they'd spend half their life on Mumsnet?

Don't put yourself down. Most people on here are as clueless as me and you. They just pretend otherwise.
