What colour would you say my hair is?

These are all photos of my natural hair colour in various lighting.

I'd like to know what colour you would call it, it you think it is cool or warm etc.

I'd also appreciate your advice on how to colour grey / white hair in my hair as close to my natural shade as possible without making my hair darker or having the developer of the dye lighten my natural colour to a ginger shade once the colour of the dye fades.

Brown. Id go to a hairdresser and get them to colour match and do a root touch up

LovePoppy · 20/07/2023 18:34

Medium brown probably?

ForeverYellow · 20/07/2023 18:35

Warm medium brown

I did think it was brown but it is just so hard to work out what shade to use, what toner in the past warm shades seem too warm and cool seem to dark or burgundy.

Yeah just checked when I've used medium brown (a 5.0) dye it is way too dark but by the time it fades out to a light enough shade it's looking ginger or pinkish and my roots are showing😭

I suggest you ask your hairdresser to colour your hair. You have the same colour as me and once my greys started coming in strongly I found box dye just wasn't offering the correct colour or proper coverage anymore. I've gone a shade lighter/redder after advice from my hairdresser and I get lots of compliments about my hair that I didn't get when I was using box dyes.

@PrincessFluffyPants I'd love to have a hairdresser do it but I just can't afford it these days at least not on an ongoing basis. Also previously when I have had my hair coloured by a professional a few years ago my hair was still going gingery as the dye faded and my hair got damaged by the developer. But colouring without developer usually means going darker.

I also cannot afford the expense of getting my hair dyed by the hairdresser. Mine is probably a similar colour to yours, maybe a tiny bit lighter, I use 6.0 so it probably picks up the greys a bit lighter than the natural colour, maybe this looks a bit more natural than a darker shade all over. I use Casting crème gloss which is semi permanent so fades rather going reddish. My hairdresser always says it looks good and never suggests she should colour it, she did recommend just doing the roots rather than full head most times.

This is very good advice.

Medium golden brown, Nice and Easy do this shade.

My suggestion would be to dye it all over with medium golden brown (it will look dark for the first week) but don’t panic. Then do your roots with Nice and Easy root touch up kit, it’s very easy and not takes 10 minutes.
