PIP reminder after form already received

I sent my renewal form back to PIP last Wednesday (12th July), using first class signed for, after a thread on here.

The form was delivered on 13th July.

Today I received a letter dated 13th July (so delivered seven days after it's dated), telling me they haven't received my form back and they need it back by 24th July or my claim will end.

The annoying thing is, I didn't receive my form until 7th July and it had to be back by 24th (they say you have a month, it's actually just over two weeks, less as you have to allow time for them to receive it.

I'm a bit panicked, what do I do if on Monday they stop my claim (which I won't know for nearly a month after)?

As I said I have proof it was delivered there, well before the cut off date.

So they sent out the letter to you on the date they received your form . When things arrive at DWP they don't get scanned onto their system immediately, so it is likely just a crossover, the letter has gone out before the form is appearing on their system even though someone may have signed for it. If you are worried you can call them to check but this does happen all the time.

Also if you ever need more time to complete a form just ring them and they will arrange an extension. I work for an advice agency and we have to ask people to do this all the time as we can't find advisors to help complete the form within the return time.

@Babyroobs is it worth ringing now to ask for an extension? I'm guessing not as it would be weird when the form has arrived, but I read that it takes two - three weeks for it to be scanned onto their system, and it's classed as not received until then, so I'm guessing that it won't be on their system by Monday, so they will claim I sent it back late. Thank you for the reply.

@Babyroobs if I do ring to check, which number do you think best? I heard the number on the letter is a call centre, or the PIP advice line. Thanks

I think it will be fine if they've received the form now. I ahve helped a lot of people claim PIP and a lot of the forms have been returned close to the deadline and I've never known them close a claim to be honest. But if it puts your mind at risk then give them a call.

Count yourself lucky that they managed to send out a claim form. Don't know what's up with their system but the DWP seem to not be sending claim forms, notifications etc ,in a timely manner or indeed at all. Why they don't allow online claims again I do not know. As PP said, ring them to confirm receipt if you feel you will worry about it otherwise .Just have something else to do whilst the phone is on speaker as the wait times are significant

It’s a long process op. My initial claim took five months. Reviewal was 14 months
