PIP

I applied for PIP around 5 weeks ago. Looking back I don't think I filled the form in properly and missed lots of things out, is there any way you can go back and add to it and also, what kind of supporting e information so they mean? Could I send pictures of adaption used at home and work?

Last one, how long did it take before you heard.

Thanks

You can't go back and add but if the assessor calls you can tell them this extra information or if declined you can appeal it and add it all in then.

I applied in Sep 21 and was declined, I appealed and added loads more info (I was a bit naive and thought I'd get it based on my diagnosis). I had to go to a tribunal which was last month and was awarded.

I had consultants letters etc as evidence and dates of meetings with counsellors etc.

@PuggyMum thanks for replying and please you got it in the end. Did you have a face to face assessment. I did send a few consultant letters/reports off but looking back there is loads I could have added.

No it was all over the phone. The tribunal was online.

If you are Called for assessment then tell them you missed some things out. I don't think you can add on.

Stigsmother · 20/07/2023 10:22

You can call the PIP enquiry line and ask for the missing info to be added to your claim via notes. You can also get the address to send evidence to, make sure you put your NI number on every piece of paper

Supporting evidence would be GP or consultants letters, CPN reports etc, basically anything from a health professional.
I would expect to be contacted by the assessment provider between 5-6 weeks after your application has been received by PIP.
If your claim is rejected, please consider contacting an organisation like CAB to put forward a mandatory reconsideration, they have the skills and experience to make the most of your claim. The waiting lists are quite long but definitely worth it.
Finally, please ring the enquiry line if you have any questions at all, we are here to help.

Mrsjayy · 20/07/2023 10:31

Oh sorry for mis information you can add on.

livingonaprayer99 · 20/07/2023 10:45

@Stigsmother thank you for that information. I've had a message to say it's been passed to IAS but that was 5 weeks ago. Would it be worth sending them pictures of adaptions made at home/work and letter from manager.

Hello I was very briefly a PIP assessor. Doesn't matter about the form, the assessor will just look through this to prep for your interview and then the assessment report will be done from your phone interview.

Don't worry just make sure you include everything during your interview! Some people didn't even submit a form and still got a full interview.

Good luck, hope it all goes okay x

Woofappreciationday · 20/07/2023 13:21

Just a note on timelines. I applied in February and was awarded my PIP at the end of June. So roughly 4 months.

Thank you, I was panicking that they might think I haven't submitted enough

Wow that was quick. Did you have a face to face appointment

I don't know of anyone who's had a face to face assessment recently. It can take a while. Lots of people get rejected first time, but then are accepted when they take it to tribunal. So if it does get rejected, don't worry about it. Speak to citizens advice and apply for a tribunal where they'll review it.
Good luck 🤞

F2F appointments are scams. I actually saw a nurse type out the word 'yes' when the person I was there supporting said a quite clear and distinct 'No'. It's the difference between 4 taps on the keyboard and three (you have to include the 'enter' key)
They're there to deny you your rights in anticipation of you being incapable, unable or too depressed to appeal Angry
Always appeal their decision
