I have been googling like crazy and coming up with nothing and I’m aware I’ve left it so late!

we are going to London next Thursday staying near tower bridge, I’ve been looking at loads of restaurants but she’s a veggie and fussy as well, won’t eat Chinese/Japanese etc!

any other cool things to do or see?

thanks

Camden is a great place for teens, or Chinatown

FoodFann · 19/07/2023 20:30

spitalfields

Smallinthesmoke · 19/07/2023 20:30

If she's veggie, try Mildreds (small chain).

AlyssumandHelianthus · 19/07/2023 20:31

I second Camden. What's she into?

AtleastitsnotMonday · 19/07/2023 20:31

What does she enjoy doing? Eating?

Jackonary · 19/07/2023 20:34

Pizza in Gabriel's Wharf or Battersea Power station. Walk down the South Bank and boat back?

Whataretheodds · 19/07/2023 20:34

Search (or get her to search) #london #veggie and come up with some ideas herself.

There may be some events happening at More London which is right under Tower Bridge. Borough Market isn't far away.

Mildred's is a classic. There will be loads of veggie and vegan options in East London.

The V &A is reliable - I love popping in to the costume section.

Boredofblueskythinking · 19/07/2023 20:38

What kind of foods does she eat? What kind of things does she like to do? There’s lots that walkable within 10-15 minutes of that kind of way dependant on what will keep her happy!

BarbaraofSeville · 19/07/2023 20:40

Take them to the tower and leave them there. I'm only half joking.

Honestly, I've spent hours trawling round London after a fussy teen veggie that doesn't like vegetables and even when she finally found something she'd agree to try, the food was cut into the wrong shape and not cooked how she expected so she wouldn't eat it.

Allchangename354 · 19/07/2023 20:45

Can she help with the search if you set a budget for one activity she finds or the restaurant menu (you have final say though)

Eden1990 · 19/07/2023 20:47

This is also my problem, she doesn’t eat vegetables or any kind of fancy food 😂

Karen's Diner

Boredofblueskythinking · 19/07/2023 21:01

There’s lots of chains with veggie options if she likes things like Nandos etc

Isittimetogohomeyet · 19/07/2023 21:06

St Katherine's Dock might work if you're at Tower Bridge there are chain places like Zizzi and I'm sure a veggie place but its nice surroundings too

Go to seven dials market. It’s a food market for trendy young things. A bit like box park. So she could choose pizza, noodles, bao buns - there’s a multitude of options. The area is very cool and round the corner from Covent Garden. So then go to milk train to get the ice cream with candy floss round the outside. You’ll prob have to queue. My teen goes to these places with her friends. Also she loves brick lane and Camden. In brick lane there is dark sugars for hot chocolate. For things to do, the tower is honestly fab and again dd loves it although it’s expensive. Also you could get an Uber boat down to Greenwich - that’s fun. Something I want to do with them is try to take as many forms of transport in one day, so train, bus, tube, boat, bike, taxi, cable car etc….
Just walk along the south bank all the way to the south bank and you can pop into Tate modern on the way. It’s free so even if you only spend 20 mins in there you won’t have wasted any money.
You really don’t need to have booked anything but you could try and get tickets for a show on todaytix.
You will have loads of fun I’m sure. Oh yeah outside the festival hall at the back there’s another food market so that could be somewhere to stop for a snack.
I find pleasing teens a never ending and thankless task but London is made to please everyone even teens!!👍

I second or third Mildred's, it's a london veggie classic. If you're daughter is a bit fussy/not vegetable orientated but vegetarian, there's a choice of veggie burgers (nice ones!) and other meals from various cuisines for you . The original branch is in Soho, you could book there or at the Covent Garden branch (or King's Cross, or Dalston or Camden- probably less handy for a weekends visit).

London is great for fussy vegetarians! I'm an un-fussy one but I have plenty of friends who are more difficult!

cocksstrideintheevening · 19/07/2023 21:31

There are train strikes all next week, be prepared to do some walking!

Clementineorsatsuma · 19/07/2023 21:37

Carnaby Street
The Disney Store (only one in England now!)
Sherlock Holmes Museum
Natural History Museum
Tate and Tate Modern
Cable Cars over the Thames
London Eye
Buckingham Palace
Camden Market

catcatcatcat · 19/07/2023 21:39

Look up EL&N - amazing cafe my 13yo loved.
I second seven dials market.
The new Uniqlo near Covent Garden is great too.

FrogSplash · 19/07/2023 21:42

Duck and Waffle for breakfast/brunch/epic views.

Comefromaway · 19/07/2023 21:44

I find Italian is a safe bet (both Ds and I are fussy eaters and Ds eats very little meat due to texture.

he has pasta or pizza & I have steak

Gotmygladragson · 19/07/2023 22:41

I third Seven Dials market - my 14 year old (very picky) loved it there . She particularly loved a stall called Boolay which was basically creme brûlée in a crepe cone (as did I!) I know it’s not a main - but hey, it’s a treat! 🤣She also REALLY enjoyed Mamma Mia playing near Charing Cross which was a bit of a surprise . Sky Garden was also a hit (tickets out every Monday but you can also queue and get in that way).
