Does this mean I owe money or not? HA rent account

My housing association has changed the way they show what rent is owed.
I pay 4 weekly as I get paid 4 weekly.
The £75 in red means I owe money doesn't it? But the recent transactions say my balance is "debit" so I'm confused. Money/bills are not my strong point.
Wouldn't it say credit if I owed money ?

Of course, I could ring them, but that would take approximately 3 days by the time I've got through all the options and then wait for them to answer then pass me on to somebody else blah blah blah

I would say you owe them that amount if it says your balance is debit.

Debit means you owe them
credit would mean you had extra money sitting with them.

you are maybe confused with debit and credit cards?

It's probably the gap in between monthly statements and four weekly payments causing it - or that statement was raised before your payment had cleared/a week later than usual due to the changeover - but it does look like it.

What is the rent each week and exactly how much do you pay? Has there been an increase recently? Your payment might need to go up by a bit to even it out.

Debit means "in debt" basically. But most rent accounts drop into debt at some point as the rent is applied on X date and the payments come in on Y date etc.

You pay 4 weekly, what amount?

I know I'm behind as you're meant to pay 4 weeks up front but my circumstances didn't allow that. I was escaping an abusive relationship so they let me pay 1 week up front with the intention of me paying more each week to make up the 4 weeks. However it's been 8 years and I've never been in the position to pay more and they've never questioned it.

Unless you are actually being contacted by their rents team, I'd just keep doing what you are doing. If you ever want to House Swap or bid on other properties of theirs you will need your rents paid in full with no arrears but otherwise, it's fine.
