Should I do something about fleas?

I looked at my arm earlier and there was a flea there, sucking my blood like it's no big deal.

I did also get a bite on my ankle while walking downstairs yesterday now I think of it.

DD has also had about 3 or 4 tiny red bites on her over the last month, maybe around one a week? They fade after a day and she doesn't scratch them. Nothing on DS or DH.

I thought you either had (loads of) fleas and had to treat or you didn't, I didn't realise you could just get the odd one (no pets).

Would you treat the house? Are the products toxic? Or should I just take my hoovering routing up a notch for a few days?

I found a flea on my arm around the same time last year while sitting on the sofa and never had another.

But i don't want to just ignore it if it could potentially become a problem. Any advice welcome!

I once remember returning from 3 weeks away on holiday, dressed in my white jeans. Within seconds my trouser legs were covered in black fleas jumping like bastards after my blood. Truely traumatic experience.

I'm quite shocked at how lackadaisical you are about this. It's a big deal.

How so? It’s mildly inconvenient but easily resolved. It’s hardly a ‘big’ deal. I can think of a hundred much bigger deals in life!

I do think some posts on here are making it sound more scary than it is

I know right! Honestly some people must live such simple easy lives if a bout of fleas is that traumatic for them.

That's what the washing up liquid is for, to break the surface tension.

Sorry I'm being thick 😞. I missed that bit! But if it works for you, go with it!

I would take it seriously if I were you. They are awful.
Squirrels and hedgehogs are covered in fleas so could be from the garden.
Indorex is very good.Vacuum every day, don't miss a day.I believe the life cycle is about 10 days, could be wrong, but every day is a good idea. Also empty the vacuum cleaner each time, double bag and put outside in the bin.Dont leave it half full.It really is a big deal.
Vacuum mattresses and sofas and spray Indorex into all nooks and crannies.

op fleas drown, so wash your hard floors as well as hoovering, they can live for bloody ages in cracks in floorboards. You may have mice and/or rats that are causing the fleas. Indorex, wash, hoover will sort it.

cat and dog fleas need a cat or a dog to reproduce.
yes there are human fleas, but they are pretty rare these days.

If there is no cat or dog, they will jump on humans and bite, but they can't live long and propser without the correct host.

My vet told me that fleas can live on grass in the same way that they can live on the carpet, so you can pick them up outside.
I would imagine that a good cold winter would kill them off.

and fleas can't drown. One of the things forensic scientists can to test how long a body has been in the water if there are fleas. How long it takes them to 'wake up' is relative to how long the body has been in the water.
Apparently
(I may have watched too much TV police drama)
