Not really possible to explain without some context.

Urea and Electrolytes are principally regulated by the kidney and can vary depending many factors including hydration, age, medications, and a whole host of acute and chronic medical conditions.

The most you can say from what you've posted is that something appears to be affecting urea and electrolytes (most likely kidney function) and it probably needs further investigation unless this is a longstanding / established pattern in this person.

You might find this really helpful. You have acute kidney injury and you're not producing enough urine. it's impossible to provide any more advice without knowing the circumstances but you should speak to your GP asap. The good news is its stage 1 which is the mildest but still very serious so please speak to a medical professional

Thank you for replying. I appreciate it.

This is new.
I had blood tests last week then the doctors phoned and said I needed urgent repeat and this is those results.

The fact it's in red alarmed me but I was hoping maybe the actual numbers are not that bad.

I have to have blood taken again in a few days.

You have acute kidney injury.
Acute just means sudden or short acting. Most injuries heal on their own rather than turning into a chronic condition.

If the next bloods show the same thing or your symptoms increase they will do more tests to find out the cause.

In the mean time make sure that you are well hydrated.

The link s pp has posted will provide more information and advice on what you can do.

ODFOx · 18/07/2023 12:50

Also, here's the NHS acute kidney injury main page which might help too.

@Bells3032 You actually can’t say there’s an acute kidney injury without knowing what any history. You also have no idea of the OP is producing enough urine.

OP, as pp said you need to discuss the results with someone who has access to your medical history, any previous results etc.

Bells3032 · 18/07/2023 12:52

it says on there AKI stage 1

OhComeOnFFS · 18/07/2023 12:53

On the right side, in black, is the normal range, if that's any help.

it says on there AKI stage 1

That’s a standard computer response. If those are the first results on that system it will say that even if it’s a chronic condition. Can you tell if those results are better or worse than previous ones? The results need interpreting in context and no one on here has that context.

Missingthegore · 18/07/2023 13:06

Your GP needs to do a thorough review with you of any medication (including over the counter or herbal supplements you are taking) review your medical history and make a plan....no point in panicking yet.

The program puts all abnormal results in red so they are not missed by an overworked junior doctor at 2AM

@Bells3032 that is a computer generated result that may not have all factors e.g. age, race, sex, medical conditions. Same as no HCP trusts the computer generated ECG interpretation that the machine spits out.

Thank you everyone. Much appreciated.
I probably shouldn't have asked for my results. Dr Google is the worst!
