Cup storage.

Do you store your cups and glasses the right way up, or upside down in your cupboards?

The right way up although I understand why you might store them upside down for dust reasons.

I store mine the right way up as well. My sister and her husband store theirs upside down. Anytime they come to stay they mention it (lighthearted).
It's obvious they should be the right way up isn't it? In case of trapped moisture.

Right way up, but it's in a closed cupboard so that's fine. And yes, potential damp from the dishwasher or whatever. Also I don't like the rims being on the shelf surface, which collects a small amount of dust and kitchen grease like anything else in a kitchen would - but isn't easy to wipe down.

Upside down, with others balanced precariously on top.

Non slip mat in cupboard (washable) and store upside down. No creepy insects getting inside. Still allows air to circulate.

Right way up. We use them too often in our house for them to collect dust. Hate it when people store them upside down and the rim of glass has cupboard dust in it Envy

Right way up, why would you want the bit that touches your lips having been stored and dragged across a shelf which could have dust and bugs? Mine are in a closed cupboard.

Lavenderandbrown · 16/07/2023 03:33

I alternate mine. For drinking glasses I do a row up and then a row down. Or you can do every other. It allows you to store more in less space. For stemmed glasses like wine glasses always store up. The stem is designed to support the rim but the rim is not designed to support the stem.

Yes, I agree with all of these. Closed cupboard, used often enough to not get dusty.
Some of my glasses are alternated too, mostly the ones that aren't used often and would need washed before use anyway.

Yes, a mat is definitely needed for upside down storage.

Upside down here, and some hooks to hang smaller mugs above them.

There is absolutely no logic in my house because I store mugs right way up and glasses upside down. I think it may be because that is what my parents have always done so it feels natural to me. They are all in the same cupboard, which is closed, so nothing gets into the cups. 🤷‍♀️
