I've bought loads. Jewellery making kits for DD, small bathroom DIY things, baking moulds, cupcake cases, a holdall, embroidery threads, cat toys, potato growing bags, key chains for the spare keys, phone screen protectors, plain baseball caps..loads.
Yes it's all made in China. BUT I've not bought a single thing that I haven't found on Amazon for at least 3x the price. And I do mean exactly the same thing. Nothing branded, of course. Unless every single photo of those items on Amazon is copied from Temu, then they're the same product.
I wouldn't buy clothes or fabric, although I've spotted that they have fat quarter bundles that look like they're the same bundles as here, but I don't quilt so haven't ordered any. I've had a few problems with some pens, but that's it - and not all the pens.
I've noticed that the bluetooth earbuds that I bought a few months ago on Amazon are there too. Look exactly the same, same "brand" name and far cheaper.
I do not believe that when I buy those things from a local seller here that the workers who make them are getting paid 3x (or higher) more. All it does is cut out a few of the middlemen.
Which brings up the plus of Temu: none of my money goes to Bezos!
Almost everything I've bought I'd have bought anyway. Should it be made by workers in shitty factory conditions? No. But when I buy the tape to temporarily seal my leaky shower, it doesn't come from a different factory, with better conditions because I pay more in my local shop. It's exactly the same tape!! But I'm guessing those who refuse to buy on Temu for admittedly sound ethical reasons, wouldn't think twice about buying that same Made in China tape in the shop if their shower leaks.
I will pay more for Fair trade products and the like. But when they're not - and basically that's most things made in China - either you boycott everything made there, or you pay a middle man or three for an inflated price. Temu changes that second option.
Oh yes, and the shipping times have been reliable.
