Does anyone work as a Social Worker with Older Adults?

I worked as a Care Assistant until recently and now I can't anymore because I cannot lift any more than 5kg, ever, and cannot be on my feet all day.

I want to continue working with older people.

Thinking of retraining as a Social Worker working with Older Adults, but obviously don't want to spend years training (I only have A levels) if I won't get on with it.

Could you tell me about it please, the good and the bad? and are there any social work assistant type which don't include lifting or walking all day?

Thanks so much

Look into roles of social work assistant or 'assessment and review officers' as they're known in the local authority that I work in. Same type of work just lower complexity than qualified social workers and you don't need to retrain!

They're called Assistant Practitioners in the LA I work. Worth a look on your local council job site @stopthemachine

What about your local ageuk or a dementia charity? Lots of charity roles which probably pay more than care but involve no personal care/lifting
