Bob's Highland Retreat is up for sale. I'm not a huge fan of very large houses, but this has a cosier air than you'd expect.
Anyone fancy chipping in?

Beautiful location to live in. Not that keen on the house, but oh my, that greenhouse!
Lovely little duck race held in the village and a beautiful little golf course. Do you think if I popped in for a chat he might show me round 😁

@Forestfire12345

Well, when you have bought it, you can turn it into a Mumsnetters' retreat!

Does he currently still own it or did it used to be his a few owners ago? Not even sure if he’s still alive actually!

Wash your mouth out! Of course he's still alive!

Mutabiliss · 15/07/2023 07:52

It really does look like a hotel, no personality at all. I wonder if he hasn't used it for years and it's just set up for show? Intrigued to know how someone has stayed there!

I love big old houses but not keen on this one. Although I'll take the glasshouse!

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 15/07/2023 07:58

Another one who isn't fussed for the house, but oh my, the greenhouse!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2023 08:10

Is he still alive? He's just turned 82 and still touring. Amazing. I'm not going to say his death will get the blanket coverage we saw when the Queen died, but it will be a massive news story. He is one of the greatest songwriters the world has ever known and fully deserved his Nobel Prize for Literature.

User10486743 · 15/07/2023 08:10

He probably doesn't have time to use it, he seems to be constantly touring, apart from during Covid, we see him in October in concert, no sign of any retirement.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2023 08:11

I would love that house, but my husband has just said no. Sad I'm sure we could have rustled up £3m+ from somewhere ...

Wildandwonderful · 15/07/2023 08:20

Imagine the heating bills! Not a bad price but the upkeep would be eye-watering.

MorrisZapp · 15/07/2023 11:19

This was featured in The Times property section yesterday. He owns fabulous homes across the world and recently sold his back catalogue for a vast, vast sum.

It's a fab house but you'd need an army of cleaners, gardeners etc. It would cost a lot to maintain it, aside from the initial purchase price.

What a dull and staid decor. Zero personality

This ^

It's very boring! Although the greenhouse and parts of the grounds look lovely.

LlynTegid · 15/07/2023 13:24

Thanks for the thought, but I could not live in Scotland or the north of England because of the earlier winter darkness.

Would make a lovely hotel.

Papernotplastic · 15/07/2023 13:35

That’s a really lovely house. So many houses in that price range need to be gutted to remove the ‘style’ of the previous owners - fugly six figure kitchens and bathrooms that you’d need to wear shades in.

Eminybob · 15/07/2023 13:35

£3m is a steal! (Compared to prices round this way)

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 15/07/2023 14:29

The small kitchen is in one of the smaller houses in the grounds

Tighginn · 15/07/2023 15:13

This is the most unrock n roll house I have ever seen! Wonder if Johnny's in the basement at least?
