Is it a right arse to change energy provider?

I can no longer cope with being told there's an error when submitting readings with British Gas. Is it a right pain in the ass to change companies as my complaints aren't getting heard and the same error message happens every time. They deflect by saying just use the chat to tell us your readings but then you have to sit in a queue and why should I have to when submitting readings should be a two minute job. I just want to be able to see my bill and submit readings but it seems like they can't sort that out for some reason.

They keep saying I'm on the 'new platform' so all will be fine but it's been over a year off error messages so it's not fine. They've also never explained how the new platform will solve things or how it's different.

I change mine all the time using the Moneysavingexpert switching service to find the best deals. It is very easy if you are on monthly DD (might be different on prepayment)

I'm on monthly DD. How does the switching service work?

You sign up on moneysavingexpert, you need to know what tariff you are on and your approx annual usage in kwh then it searches for the best deals for you and you can switch directly through the site. It can also alert you when there are better deals available in future. I actually haven't done it for about 18 months as we are on a good fix but before that I used to switch whenever I felt like it sometimes more than once a year.

Problem is I can't log on to find my tarif and usage 😂

They should send you it by letter or email attachment once a year?

I changed providers all the time until the massive price hikes. Now they’re pretty much similar, I’m with Utility Warehouse, they’re not on the comparison sites. If you want their unit charges for comparison let me know.

Changing is easy, you give your new provider your bank account details, who your current supplier is and away you go, they sort everything out, really easy. Plus any problems with UW, their call centres are in the UK and are pretty good at assisting you. My daughter was with EON and they are a bloody nightmare, call centres all over the world and not so good English.
