What to wear round the house that's not a dressing gown!!

I've got into a bad habit of chucking my dressing gown on over my clothes whenever I'm cold. Does anyone have any recommendations of lounge wear that will keep me warm and snug? I've started WFH so I don't want to spend all winter in my dressing gown 🤦🏻‍♀️

A long cardigan?

FrivolousTreeDuck · 12/07/2023 19:21

Manky old overstretched cardigan with a couple of holes and a curry stain. Nothing cosier in chilly weather.

Style icon I am not.

Oh I’m always in my dressing gown! So cosy!!

Capitulatingpanda · 12/07/2023 19:23

I have a really awesome blanket scarf/shawl that is v soft and warm that i wear around the house when chilly.

tacomaco · 12/07/2023 19:24

I just wear joggers and hoodies usually from Primark. T shirt under the hoodie or a base layer if I have had one on at work. Regardless of temperature, I work in a cold building so wear a base layer all year round. I also recommend Primark for cosy socks. I also have an Oodie.

CindersAgain · 12/07/2023 19:24

Knitted joggers, a T-shirt and a sweatshirt or jumper. Swap the top half for blouse and jumper if I have work calls.

titchy · 12/07/2023 19:25

Thermals, nice top (for meetings!) and cardigan, or thermals, old sweater and zipped up fleece (if no meetings). Heated blanket for really cold days

RobertsRadio · 12/07/2023 19:28

I don't have one, but I think either a heavy wool or cashmere poncho would fit the bill.

I wear a hoodie or fleece over my PJs if needed but if I want to be warm in the day I'd wear an outfit that includes a cardi or jumper - and start off with a thermal base layer (I really feel the cold)

fourlambbhunas · 12/07/2023 19:45

Hot water bottle up my top always 🤣

Careerdilemma · 12/07/2023 19:48

Ooodie. A vaguely more socially acceptable version of a dressing gown.

Snugglemonkey · 12/07/2023 19:49

I have a cashmere pashmina and a woolen poncho I put on over pjs on cold mornings when wfh. They both just look like knitwear 🙂

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 12/07/2023 19:50

Fleece pajamas.

SunThroughTheCloudsAt6am · 12/07/2023 19:51

OOdie (well a primark one) or my ankle-length hoodie.

If I'm being stubborn about the heating, then also long-johns/wool baselayer under my normal clothes.

I have made a heated jacket out of a zip up hoodie and a plugin back/neck heater I bought in Lidl too - but it's not something I'd want anyone else to see me in!

Also sheepskin slippers or boots. The fake-fleece ones make my feet sweaty.

Franklin2000 · 12/07/2023 19:54

Joggers and a sweatshirt for me as I too was on the slippery slope of dressing gowns during the day! in winter if it’s really cold I’ll still wear it though. Embrace it!

WorriedAboutEntertaining · 12/07/2023 19:54

I have this, and love it Grin

Lounge pants/soft joggers and a sweatshirt.

Daisy62 · 12/07/2023 20:23

Cosy charcoal poncho with big loose polo neck. Looks more expensive than it was. Equally fine for lying on sofa or for being warm but smart on Teams calls.

Newestname002 · 12/07/2023 21:39

Layers. T-shirt or thermal top with sleeves, wool cardigan or jumper, zip up fleece (you can get some streamlined ones so non baggy) plus for colder days an thick fleecy Oodi (or cheaper lookalike - check Amazon Lushforest). On legs gain thermal tights plus fleece or Sherpa lined joggers. I bought men's very thick Sherpa lined joggers and those, with Heat Holder thick fleecy socks plus wrist warmers) kept me warm and cozy when I had no heating last winter. 🌹

Firefinch · 12/07/2023 21:43

I spent my working from home days last winter in fleecy lined joggers, long sleeved t shirts layered over vests, with a long belted cardigan over the top. Presentable enough for teams calls and about as close to pyjamas and dressing gown for day wear as you can get.

AutisticLegoLover · 12/07/2023 22:44

Where do you all buy your thermal base layers? I need these for later in the year.

Grimbelina · 12/07/2023 23:04

AutisticLegoLover I have a mixture of M&S, Uniqlo and Primark thermals... and there isn't much to choose between them really. However the M&S HeatGen Plus are much thicker and warmer so a great buy (especially in the summer and on eBay!). I like having the thinner ones too though for in-between weather.
