Instant Pot? Worth it?

Thinking of getting an Instant Pot but wondering if it’s worth it.

Wasn’t a fan of anything from the slow cooker so got rid of that. We used to have a rice cooker and liked it (it was a gift while living in Asia) but it died. So was thinking if getting another rice cooker but DH spotted an Instant Pot on Amazon Prime. We cook a lot from scratch. Have never used a pressure cooker. I like the fact it will do rice and other stuff but wonder if I would really use it?

Any thoughts?

I use mine quite a lot. It's very easy to use and I've made various stews/casseroles/ratatouille/soups/curries in it as well as cooking joints of meat....even from frozen.

The thing I like best about it is you can just set it going and forget about it, it automatically switches to a keep warm function when the cooking time is up. It's been great when my DDs are running around as is safer than having things bubbling away on the hob.

I love mine and use it lots. It's the 11 in 1 one and can airfry, bake, roast, pressure cook and slow cook. The only reason I ever put my oven on now is for pizza as the Instant Pot isn't big enough for a full one. (I am looking at making my own pizzas though so I can make them a size to fit in)

Thanks all. Just concerned it will be a dust gatherer!

Yes, I upgraded from a slow cooker.

It has a saute function that let's me start off something before slow or pressure cooking. Appreciate you weren't a fan, but if you just dumped everything and left it, taking a few minutes to brown off makes a difference.

Pressure cooker function for me is great when I have meats etc that could do with a slow cook but you only have an hour...

And dramatically releasing the pressure never gets old. That being said it feels very safe, you couldn't accidently open the lid with it pressurised.

I think I used it for rice once...it was fine...but then I never got how a rice cooker was any better than the hob, so...

There's a couple of other functions on mine I haven't used as I'm not the most adventurous.

I think you can also buy extra pots (amongst other accessories), which is always good if you're slovenly like me and its washing in the dishwasher

On a stupid note, it came with a little trivet thing, which is great for putting meat on so its not sat on the bottom.

I have debated selling it though, and upgrading to one including an air fryer, as I don't have the side space for both really but then I'm not sure Id be enthralled with an air fryer so.

I got rid of mine. I love my slow cooker, but the instantpot didnt work the same way and the other functions didn't really work that well.

I have one and go through stages of using a lot. I have a separate rice cooker which I use very often.

@MogTheMoogle - having to brown stuff before throwing it in the slow cooker was irritating. I don’t want to be browning meat and onions at 8am!

im rubbish at rice. Genuinely! Possibly because we had a rice cooker for so long!

like the idea of making yoghurt.

Anyway you have all convinced me so I’ve ordered it.

The maker has filed for bankruptcy in the US

I love mine but seem to get rice right with it!

I have the Aldi version and i rarely use my oven now. Just, as another poster said basically to cook pizza.

I love my pressure cooker.
