My daughter has a rash on her forhead its perfectly round and with red dots inside it doesn't bother her or itch its not bumpy or raised.
I did askmygp yesterday and got a dr replied without even telling me what the issue was the dr said ill prescribe a steroid cream(like lets just chuck a cream on it is the awner ) i said id like to know what it is before I put something on her face. The dr replied oh it could be fungal infection and then cut the conversation off and logged out of the system

So today I'm very tempted to do it again but where do I stand call me a Karen but I really weren't happy with the way it was dealt with . And this dr is known to be a rude nasty one !

Why not talk to the Phamacist when you collect the medication

DustyLee123 · 12/07/2023 08:03

Please don’t use the term ‘Karen’, it’s misogyny.

YourNameGoesHere · 12/07/2023 08:04

Surely you'd be better visiting a pharmacist who can actually see the rash in person instead of using an online GP service?

Awful term

watcherintherye · 12/07/2023 08:28

So to not be a ‘Karen’, you have to not speak out about poor service from a GP (or anything at all)? Getting a second opinion is being a ‘Karen’? Not putting up with shit is being a ‘Karen’? I really don't remember how the whole ‘K’ thing started, but it now seems to be used generally to describe uppity women who don’t know their place. Another great way to shut women down.
Everyone is entitled to a second opinion, op. You’ll notice there is no male equivalent to ‘Karen’. Don’t buy into this awful woman-hating term, and go back to the GP until you’re satisfied that your dd is getting the correct treatment.
Sorry for the rant, but this ‘K’ thing is insidious.

How old is daughter? Could be self inflicted?

I was full of sympathy as I have been in a similar situation with DS2. But nah, no advice for anyone who uses that awful Karen expression.

VWT5 · 12/07/2023 08:44

Would you not just try the cream - and review how the rash looks in 5 days?

gogomoto · 12/07/2023 08:45

Most rashes are self limiting and will clear up on their own, why not give the cream a chance? They see hundreds of worrying parents a week and 95% didn't really need a dr - the sorts of things that people dealt with by asking grandma, aunt etc. that go away with time. Most infections also clear up themselves. Yes theres always cases which need medical intervention but until you try the suggestion the trained medical professional prescribed how do you know they are wrong.

And don't use that term!

So you don't agree it's self inflicted as you then booked a GP appointment and you don't agree that trying the cream is a logical next step. What you actually want is to keep asking for more opinions until you get one you think is suitable?

It's a rash on a child, they happen and often no one knows what it is or why it appeared. By all means get a third opinion but I suspect you won't be content with their assessment either.

Also I'm trying to ignore your use of the perfectly lovely name Karen but anyone with more than a few braincells knows it's a vile expression and it instantly marks out anyone using it a twat.

Woodward23 · 12/07/2023 08:46

Just to clear things up i thought I 2ould be called a Karen hence me explaining it

I’d try another pharmacist, tbh. They’re usually great with rashes. Most rashes are fungal so give it a go, and if it hasn’t cleared up in a few days then go back.

YouAndMeAndThem · 12/07/2023 08:55

It might not be anything in particular, like a named Ilness. Sometimes it's just a rash, fungal, or inflammatory. Use the cream and if no better in a week, go back to the doctor. Simple.

ThreadExterminator · 12/07/2023 09:34

I'd try speaking to another pharmacist at a different pharmacy. Try a small independent pharmacy as they seem more likely to have an experienced pharmacist who's been there decades and seen everything. I have had various skin things over the years and without fail the pharmacist has been more helpful than the GP on these things.

JenniferBarkley · 12/07/2023 10:29

Why wouldn't you just use the cream? Lots of skin issues in this house, that's always the first step. If that cream doesn't work they'll try another.

It's just a rash, it doesn't need loads of investigations, just a fix.
