Does anyone else constantly take their glasses off? Why!

I’ve worn specs/glasses for the last 20 years. I’m short sighted. Not too bad, about -2.00

I wear them all the time or wear lenses. But when I wear glasses, I always take the bloody things off. I put them down and then start to wonder why I can’t see much. Or I make them all grubby.

Why can’t I leave the bastard things on? Is anyone else like this?

Mine stay perched on my head whist I'm at work. I need varifocals but also need my glasses to see and I like them and don't want to spend more money on another pair to have the lenses put in

I take them off in bed to read because I can see better that way. (I have varifocals)

I can't see further than my nose without mine, so no I don't take them off.

I’m short sighted (-1.75) with about 1 metre of clear vision, I wear glasses to watch TV etc and every category on my driving licence is annotated with code 01 for eyesight correction

I’ve had the same precaution since the 90s, except for once which slightly adjusted then back again - probably based on my judgement call of “is this one or that one better?” when being tested

When I first had glasses, due to the slight prescription it was recommended that I only wear them when needed to avoid my eyes then compensating - which appears to have worked for me

This means that I buy glasses when others are getting old or I just feel like it, and then I have lots of spare glasses around.

When wearing they spend most of their time on top of my head, and maybe flipping between sunglasses and clear glasses with a pair hooked on my collar - or ending up with two pairs on top of my head

I play paintball, so did at one point buy prescription inserts to go into the goggles. But they annoyed me, increasing fogging up and I’m still not good enough of a shot to hit first time at a distance (or the excuse is that they get blown off course) - with them I would still miss, without them I can fire a couple of shots and adjust for the ‘blowing off course’

My vision is great for about 4 metres and then after that is a blur, which means I am constantly taking them on and off. I do have varifocals but they just dont do that good a job.

I only need mine for driving and the tv and even then it's only a small difference. I find them a bit irritating to wear and find they make my vision slightly worse for things that are nearer, even walking around a shop it's better without them to look at things properly. And they make reading harder. So I'm always shoving them in a pocket/in my bag/on my desk etc then have to look for them when I actually want them. I try to keep spares for the tv in the living room but then I accidentally keep them on to go upstairs and leave them up there!
