Is it okay to leave a cat for 4 days

I’m going on a short break soon and can only get someone to come in and feed twice a day whilst I’m away (a relative). Is this okay? I’m getting bad anxiety about how she will cope, will she be alright or will she be lonely etc. but I can’t not go away for the rest of her years (she’s 5)

My cat wouldn't care if I left him for a month as long as he was fed and watered.

We have someone come in to see ours once a day. She's puts food in timer feeder, deals with tray etc. She'll give some fuss and playtime. She works at the cattery in our vets so any problems she could always take him in. We keep him in so he doesn't go awol.
Upstairs neighbour may let him up to see him in the evening but he did poo on his floor one time!

Our cat was often left out while we went away. He used to roll his eyes when we got back.

Hi everyone thanks for all the responses. She has access to outdoors and we live in a very quite cul de sac in a village with little to no traffic which is very slow moving anyway cause we’re at the bottom of the cul de sac.

We left our cats for 2 weeks with an automatic feeder and free access to a cat flap and they were both absolutely fine!

Enjoy your holiday!

Same. We've left cats for several weeks with a neighbour coming in twice a day. Cats are very independent, that's their USP. They are the perfect pet. They shout at you when you get back, then settle back down. They really don't care.

It's fine. Try not to worry.
And as for the "what if she gets injured?" comment - well, that can happen when you are at home too.
Ditto for becoming ill - just make sure the cat sitter is sensible enough/has cat experience to reognize symptoms and when a vet visit is essential. I presume you are in contactable during that time if they have doubts?
I had a cat who had a tooth abscess while I was away but fortunately the sitter recognized something was up, sent me a photo, I phoned the vet and sent them the photo and the sitter took the cat in to have the abscess drained.

It depends on the cat- anxious, clingy ones don’t cope very well with it, it makes them stressed because they think they’re in charge and it scares them. I left mine with a visiting sitter once, and he peed everywhere because in his little brain that was the best way to protect himself and the house. So if yours is like that, don’t do it- put it in a cattery instead. But if yours is the kind who just stops by to collect food and stay warm and dry, it’ll be fine.

I used to go on holiday and my mum would pop in and feed kitty.

Most of my cats barely noticed that I was missing and one used to punish me for at least a week when I came home.

Somehow they all survived and I wasn't clapped irons or slung inho the deepest dungeon.

Enjoy your holiday!

Thank you to everyone that has given reassurance. I think I love my cat a little too much because I literally feel like I’m leaving my heart behind when I go away, hence why I never do week long holidays any more ☹️

I pay a cat sitter who comes in for half an hour twice a day. She feeds and plays, and sends me photos and updates. I also have a cat flap with an app so I know that they are coming and going even if she doesn't see them

I like paying for a professional rather than relying on friends/neighbours because I know they get an hour of attention every day not squeezed into someone's busy day. If there is ever a day the regular can't come one of the rest of the team will come and if needed they will arrange for vet visits. They will do medication if needed. They will also feed fish, water plants, etc.

Can you get a cheap nest camera or similar that you can hook up to keep an eye on the cat coming and going?

obviously tell the cat feeder about it
