If you were retraining what job would you do?

I'm here for ideas, I'm a classroom assistant but I would consider a change in career but I don't even know what I would do, but I no it would be away from
Children altogether.

What job do you do that brings you both happiness and a decent wage ?

Wedding coordinator? Although the job unfortunately does involve some interaction with children 😅 I did this job overseas for seven years but now difficult with Brexit obviously.

Librarian though I know they’re sadly an endangered species these days!

I've already retrained once and happy with the profession I retrained into (law).

However, if I had my time again, I think I might become a doctor. I know that the job is really tough, the working conditions are bad and the money isn't that great, which is why I've not retained into it but if I was making my a-level/university choices again and was training whilst I was childless and single I would consider medicine more seriously. I never really considered it at the time (in the same way I didn't consider law). Pretty certain if I'd decided it was what I wanted I would have gotten a place.

Something artistic. Stained glass window maker, or potter.

I'd love to make a living doing something creative.

I did retrain, been qualified for 3 years, I now work with 3-5 yr olds in an early years centre.

my mum retrained in her 50’s and became a pharmacy dispenser, before that she worked in retail management.

Car body repair.

Imagine taking something absolutely mangled and transforming it into something absolutely perfect again.

Plus I'm a little bit obsessed with how cars fold when they crash. Different strokes, eh?

Working in adult social care.

Lawyer. However, you need to gain experience in several areas of law as a paralegal and trainee ideally to pick the right one for you, the way we work varies wildly between teams and depends on the size of the firm.

I would be a psychologist - however it is very competitive so would want to start much younger

katscamel · 07/07/2023 19:47

A speech therapist maybe

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/07/2023 19:54

Garden designer or piano teacher.

confusde · 07/07/2023 20:29

Accountant. You need experience to qualify but jobs start at ~£19k but goes up quickly with qualifications and experience.

Currently work in a nursery, I do love my job. But I think I would like to work more outdoors, forest school or beach school. (Working towards this!)

Or if totally retraining I would love to be a zoo keeper, getting to snuggle cute animals would be awesome! And with my poor sense of smell the poop shovelling won't be a problem 🤣

When I was younger I wanted to do forensics for the police but not sure my brain could cope with that these days 😂
