Nope- I don't have a 'designated safe place, you just dumped it wherever. Hers my 'designated safe space' photo ( chucked over gate)- feel free to share yours - how ridiculous can you get?

I got this in the letter box (the word written above is just the German word for parcel). Felt a bit like being sent on scavenger hunt... where is the next clue? 😂

Courier left a cardboard box with wallpaper in, left on front doorstep when we had hideous snow. I didn't have any notification that it had been delivered so was blissfully unaware until the next morning when Postie knocked on the door to tell me. Wallpaper was ruined!

Sunnydaysarentagiveneveninjuly · 07/07/2023 11:08

Ordered an expensive buggy from a top brand... Hurled it over the back wall.
I was home all day.
Smashed to bits...

idrinkandiknowthings · 07/07/2023 13:01

Inside my blue recycling bin. The evening before recycling bin collection!

TrishTrix · 07/07/2023 13:04

Mine is CCTV.

left outside front door to a block of flats. On a busy central London road. For the obligatory picture.

then picked up and taken back to the couriers van.

all captured on the CCTV. Courier company then tried to tell me the driver hadn’t done anything wrong.

FFS he was caught stealing on bloody camera. But apparently that’s ok.

A delivery person once left a parcel in the middle of a bush by our back gate.

It was so well hidden we didn't find it for TWO YEARS! Only spotted by chance when DH was up a ladder next to the bush, changing a light bulb.

changedusername190 · 07/07/2023 13:18

that's mine they climbed over the electric gate and broke it

@MyHusbandisRonWeasley well if they put it on top of a cloud I guess it's safe 🤔 .

I have a tiny front yard with a 4 foot high brick wall so most packages are out of sight if they are placed against the wall , yet DPD and Amazon drivers always leave anything right infront of my 3 foot high gate .

Evri always drop it of at my 'local' shop which is a half an hr walk away or 20 and 6 roundabouts by car.
Instead of my choice of shop which is literally on my road about a 3 min walk away🙄

maybekauri · 07/07/2023 13:51

My neighbour was sent this photo and asked me to rescue the parcel..That’s her porch window which is in full view of the road….

Not a safe place, but I saw the courier and ran out to save him walking up to the door.

He saw me, I was 2m away, then he lobbed the package into the large, muddy puddle on our drive way! FFS! 😡

DuesToTheDirt · 07/07/2023 14:01

A "helpful" delivery person placed a photo I'd ordered inside a box on my front step - the empty organic veg box which was waiting for pickup. The veg people got to it before I did and took it away. Luckily when I phoned them they managed to find it, and the photo arrived with next week's vegetables.

A good percentage of our street WhatsApp messages are about missing parcels. One recently attached a delivery photo showing the parcel on the driver's lap in their van Hmm.

Kattykatty · 07/07/2023 14:05

I sell handprinted linocut prints and package them in A5 and A4 sized flat card backed envelopes which fit through a standard letterbox. Evri once left a customer's print on their doorstep, in the pouring rain while the customer was in, despite there being a perfectly usable letterbox directly in front of it. So the print got wet and ruined in the rain 😫The customer was very nice about it though.

vibratingvera · 07/07/2023 14:07

Told it was in the designated 'sadd space'. Erm, no, Evri, I hadn't designated a safe space. Searched high and low. Eventually escalated to a manager who tracked the actual courier. He'd stuffed it in the outside gas meter box.

DuckBushCityLimit · 07/07/2023 14:08

MyHusbandisRonWeasley · 07/07/2023 09:19

Helpful 🙄

Did you by any chance designate your safe place as 'launched into the heart of the sun'?

Saschka · 07/07/2023 14:12

Oh actually my best message was “house unavailable” - what the fuck does that even mean??

I phoned them up and complained, and the customer service rep insisted there must have been roadworks outside my house blocking pedestrian access, or maybe a locked security gate in their way. Um, nope, I’m sitting here in a completely normal house, opening directly onto a main road, no roadworks and no security gates. Your courier just couldn’t be fucked delivering it.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 07/07/2023 14:12

I had a package supposedly left on my doorstep (they took a picture of it on my doorstep)
But then proceeded to hide in really really well under my privet hedge without telling me.
This was in the middle of December so imagine mud and puddles.
I actually didn't find the package until the beginning of June when I finally had time to cut back the overgrown privet 😳😂

mamamilkmachine · 07/07/2023 14:13

I once had a card posted to say my parcel was delivered....with no further information, checked in gardens, bins, neighbours houses, no luck, I tried to contact the courier but it was Hermes, now EVRI, and you cannot speak to a human for love nor money, was extremely frustrating, spoke to the retailer who had a delivery photo, it was inside the gas meter box on the outside of my house, locked in, luckily I did have a key as I had needed to get in there when I moved in so had ordered one from Amazon!

cushioncovers · 07/07/2023 14:15

In our next door neighbours green house. And another time one was left in an empty bucket in the corner of our garden we found it 9 months later after we had complained to the company and got a replacement.

Placesto · 07/07/2023 14:20

Saschka · 07/07/2023 08:35

Yep, yodel did that! At Christmas time, easily visible from the busy main road (we don’t have a front garden, just steps up from the pavement).

We’ve also had “in the bin”, and “literally lying in the middle of the busy main road, being run over” before now.

I’ve had the doormat placed on top of my parcel too. It did make me laugh thinking some people never grow up, as it reminded me of the toddler years playing hide and seek and the little one’s thinking that because they can’t see me I can’t see them!

Oddsocks55 · 07/07/2023 14:23

This from Hermes recently

Caledoniadreaming · 07/07/2023 14:28

I wish I could say I was kidding, but had one "you were out card" that said the parcel was left next to the cat (who was apparently at the front door at the time).

Another one was left on the roof of the shed two doors down. I only noticed it when I looked out the bedroom window one morning.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 07/07/2023 14:28

My parents ordered an armchair from Harrods back in the 1970's. We didn't get it but Harrods swore it had been delivered. It had been delivered - into the garage of a house on a neighbouring street that had the same number as ours.

Stuffed up deliveries have been a long term problem.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 07/07/2023 14:31

Most of our deliveries are fine but they come with additions. About once a week the delivery person will happily tell us 'I've brought your cat too' as we open the front door and the cat runs into the house and makes itself at home on a footstool in the sitting room.

We don't have a cat.

kitty1993 · 07/07/2023 14:32

I once had a very nice fancy FOOD item (a birthday gift!) left in the bloody bin! Absolutely fuming. I wrote to Royal Mail, don't think they ever replied the bastards.

WhatHaveIFound · 07/07/2023 14:32

We had a iPad left under an exterior door mat. Hardly a safe place as there was a massive lump under the door mat. Luckily it was still there when we got home

Have also had numerous parcels left 'by garage door' when we don't even have a garage!
