Am hoping for some advice from people who know the area, or have been to an event at the London O2 Arena.

We are heading there in October on a sunday and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for Hotels in the are in the area. It looks like it is on the jubilee Line - do you think it will be running in the evening after the event finishes ( about 11 pm i imagine) or are taxi's easy to come by?

Jubilee line should be running, barring engineering work/strikes. The Uber boat runs usually too, check the timetable, depending on where you are going.

PatriciaHolm Thank you, will have a look along the Jubilee line. Just panicking as i imagine it will be very busy and will be on my own with a teenager

We stayed at premier inn Canary Wharf next to west ferry station which is on the DLR line you can get connection to jubilee line at Canary Wharf station to North Greenwich station. It was the only hotel available when we went as very busy event, so there may be a better alternative. The hotel was very quiet and could easily sleep. You will both need contacted cards for the tube or Apple Pay on your phone.

Contactless cards that should say.

The intercontinental at the 02 is fantastic but ££££
there is a very well organised taxi rank at the 02 with stewards to direct you to where you need to be (trains/cabs etc) all very helpful

ToBeOrNotToBee · 06/07/2023 16:02

Any hotels in Greenwich, Charlton, Blackheath, and Woolwich are fine. A short bus/taxi ride if needed.

SusannahD · 06/07/2023 16:03

Premier Inn London Docklands (Canning Town) hotel might be easier 6 minutes walk from Canning Town station on the jubilee line

Labradorandme · 06/07/2023 16:35

After a concert at the O2 last year I stayed at the Premier Inn London Docklands (Canning Town). Just one stop on the Jubilee Line and a short walk from Canning Town tube, so it was quick and easy.

kitsuneghost · 06/07/2023 16:36

Jubilee line is 24hr so no issue there
Never got a hotel down that way so can't help with that

I’ve stayed at the Premier Inn Docklands too. It was good. Loads of people who were at the concert stayed there. The only issue we had was the queue for the tube was HUGE when we were leaving so we just went and got a drink in a bar near the exit.

Not on Sundays. Night tube only runs on Friday and Saturday.

I’m going to the o2 tomorrow night, we’re staying in a travelodge in Aldgate which is straightforward to get from/ back to. If it’s a big sold out event you’re going to, hotels will book up VERY quickly anywhere in the vicinity.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 06/07/2023 18:44

You don't need to stay in the area, you could stay in a hotel near the jubilee line in a more central location.

Letsnotargue · 06/07/2023 18:46

We stayed at the nearby Holiday Inn Express - easy walking distance and far cheaper than the Intercontinental (although that is lovely). Tubes do run, but we’ve queued for ages to even get anywhere near the station, let alone on a train, so prefer to get back under our own steam.

rookiemere · 06/07/2023 19:11

You can also pre book the Uber boat after concerts. I did that and got it to Blackfriars which has a Premier Inn very close to where it stops.

AuroraForever · 06/07/2023 20:22

Holiday Inn Greenwich is great and a short walk from the O2. Intercontinental right next door to the O2 is “nice” but expensive. If the tube is running there’ll be a massive queue and a long wait.

JJJSchmidt · 06/07/2023 20:28

The intercon is definitely lovely, and so convenient. Also has a lovely spa a grey afternoon tea for relaxing the following day. Would definitely recommend.

ThePersistenceOfMammories · 06/07/2023 20:31

theres lots of hotels at the Excel. You can get the cable cars over to the o2

rookiemere · 06/07/2023 20:45

Does the cable car run after concerts at night?

LadyKX · 06/07/2023 20:52

If you can stay in the De Vere Greenwich (or any other hotels in Greenwich) it’s really easy and quick to get a bus from the O2 into Greenwich town centre. The queues are no way near as bad as the tube, loads of buses go into Greenwich.

seven201 · 06/07/2023 21:49

We stayed at a travelodge or premier in in Greenwich centre. Just one short bus ride away. The queue to get on the jubilee line looked massive when we went past. Bus queue was minimal.

LunaLoveFood · 06/07/2023 21:53

We went to a concert at the o2 on a Sunday in December and stayed in the Premier Inn at Tower Bridge. Really close to the tube station and it didn't take too long to get back to after the concert and wasn't too expensive either.

NancyJoan · 06/07/2023 21:54

Getting on the Tube after a concert is horrible, and the roads are jammed. Would really recommend prebooking the Uberboat. It leaves I think 20 mins after the last song. You can get off at Westminster Pier, few mins walk from the Premier Inn County Hall, and lots of other hotels.
