DC Sick on Holiday

Hi all,

We are on holiday and one of my DC has just vomited. He tired yesterday and not eating much but slept all last night and didn’t have a temp. He seemed to have perked up this morning so I was surprised when he was sick.

We are checking out of our accommodation at 10am tomorrow and out flight home isn’t until 7pm. Luckily only a 1hr30min flight. However, I am panicking that it could be some sort of bug that we all get.

How do I manage the flight home if he is still poorly? Should I be looking at different flights/accommodation in case he is still unwell or someone else gets sick?

Thanks in advance

I would see if you can get a late check out where you are so you have the whole day to rest and hopefully he will be okay by the time you have to fly home. Obviously if he vomits a lot more today or starts with an upset stomach you will have to try and postpone your flight and seek other accommodation if your current place can’t help you. Did you book it as a package? Do you have a rep?

I would see if you can stay an extra day or two & move the flights. Don’t take a vomiting child on a plane.

Definitely wouldn’t take him on the flight if still vomiting.

We are at a Center Parcs, not sure what options will be available to us, but I’m going to walk down and check just now.

Thank you both for your replies

Is it only once so far? Or more since? Any other sickness issues/symptoms other than behind a bit tired yesterday?

You could ask at the hotel about the chance of an additional night. Or call your insurance to see if and what you might be covered for.

I know lots of people will suggest delaying and not flying but reality for most people is their insurance may not cover it unless there is more symptoms than vomiting once.

Only once but only been an hour. No other symptoms other than being tired and not eating.

Not sure what our options with Center Parcs would be, but I’ll ask. Good shout re travel insurance. My common sense has gone out the window as I really struggle with sickness!

Thanks for your reply

Don't panic just yet, mine sometimes do this, just are sick once and then better. Give it a few hours and see if it develops, it might not.

You’re right! Thank you
