If your dining room walls were this colour, what colour would you paint this table?

Walls are Valspar Jam Jar and buying these chairs andntable to further sand then paint.

I have no idea what colour to do. I like things quite unusual.

Mustard yellow or teal

BodGaoithe · 05/07/2023 10:06

If you like colour, you could use https://paletton.com/ to find the exact complementary/ split complementary/ tone to go with the Jam Jar colour.

You need the Hex code for the colour though. I usually use the dropper tool on Photoshop to find the RGB code and then use https://www.rgbtohex.net/.

I'd leave the table top but paint the lower section and legs a deep teal/green gloss. I'd leave the chair backs but paint the legs perhaps and the seats perhaps dark also - depending how the table looks - or paint one or two of the chairs a surprise bright jewel lime/yellow or pink or other colour that works.

Teal
Gold toned yellow

Or a darker purple shade

Have a look at a colour wheel/colour theory.

Dark Green or Dark Blue

Twoshoesnewshoes · 05/07/2023 10:25

Yep dark green or teal; then tile the top with Victorian tiles, or wallpaper then laminate

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 05/07/2023 10:27

Blue. But then again, I am a Hammers fan 😂😂😂

I like these threads !

I have a rectangular coffee table with ball and claw feet. I painted it painstakingly in purple including the ball part of the feet. I then painted the claws and shoulders in gold. It took ages, was a labour of love and it is nothing like anything else in the house and I am bloody proud of it !
I say have a go at any colour you fancy and if it does not work out, sand it down and try again. You have nothing to lose !

SoDarnCool · 05/07/2023 10:57

I'm liking the dark green idea.

But I was planning on doing my living room dark green but I could change that

It's nice to have the same colours popping up throughout the house - you could go green with dark pink accents in the living room?

OldHouseLover · 05/07/2023 14:56

We had a v similar colour in our old kitchen & a similar style table. We left the table top unwaxed / unstained / unpainted scrubbed neutral wood which developed a gorgeous patina over the years of usage

We painted the table legs navy blue & the chairs 'Holy Mary blue / sky blue. Worked v well in our 150 year old farmhouse.

We are not into beige or grey & have a lot of colour in our house

Gymtastic · 05/07/2023 14:59

I’d do dark green also. And you can still do your living room dark green, it links them,

MeinKraft · 05/07/2023 15:00

Dark brown stain with teal cushions for the chairs.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 05/07/2023 15:02

I'd go with a golden yellow or burnt orange colour if you want a pop of colour. Otherwise a gorgeous midnight blue.

lizziebuck · 05/07/2023 15:17

Hot pink

Pinkywoo · 05/07/2023 15:33

Navy with gold edges!

Pinkywoo · 05/07/2023 15:34

Or dark purple (with gold edges!)

CombatBarbie · 05/07/2023 15:56

Ooh emerald green for the contrast, was in a gin bar yesterday and that is how the toilets were..... With gold accessories

JewelTheft · 05/07/2023 16:57

Turquoise or a dark green as per PP would complement the pink

My first thought is you’d have a very contemporary colour which is totally wrong for that style of table.

I’d stain it in a dark brown.

Me too. There's a reason the promo shot features dark wood floor.
