Bad seller on Vinted

A bad seller on Vinted falsely described an item and is adamant they did not. They are wrong. They said I have to pay for the return. It is not worth me paying to return it. Is there anyway I can leave negative feedback, block them and not get any negative feedback in return?

You do have to pay for the return with Vinted, I'm afraid, even when the seller is in the wrong. That's the annoying thing about Vinted.

They can hardly deny what they wrote... you will be able to bring up the description again! Doesn't matter anyway, they'll not get the money if you've raised an issue, and it will be returned to you.
I'm not sure about the negative feedback... if you leave it alone Vinted will automatically give them negative feedback anyway, so they won't do it back to you as "revenge" as it didn't come from you. If the sale didn't complete, I don't think they can give you feedback anyway.

I had a seller describe an item's condition as 'very good', I would have described it as 'worn many times in what were clearly very dirty and stressful conditions and while suffering an acute shortage of washing powder'.
I took a lot of photos, let the person know I wasn't happy through Vinted and returned it for a refund. I can't remember if I had to pay postage but if I did it wasn't more than a couple of pounds. I didn't leave any written feedback, just filled in the stars as fairly as possible. It was ages ago and so far they've not left anything negative on my profile.

It is such a scam having to pay to return when the seller was at fault. I will lose £2.29 return. It will only be a £3 refund but I want to teach the seller you don't get a sale from false advertising and being rude.

I suddenly felt a bit paranoid there, in case the seller left a negative review while I was writing my post so I rushed off to check and its still okay 😃

GaslitlikeaVictorianparlour · 04/07/2023 17:42

OP, that's how I felt too but if you send it back you'll be 71p better off than now. If you keep it you'll still need to get rid of it yourself, at least this way you've batted that job back to the bad seller.

My item was so minging as to be unusable, it was return it or leave it out the front for the Ministry of Defence to destroy in a controlled explosion. I find it really hard to understand how someone could have the brass neck to pass on something like that. I love Vinted but this kind of thing is a bit of a hazard of use.

@GaslitlikeaVictorianparlour That is a good way to look at it. The seller will have the inconvenience of having to get rid of it again 😀

I received a jumper last week advertised as very good condition. The stains on it were utterly 🤢 it literally looked like it had been worn ten times and stank!
I returned it and had to pay postage which is annoying but I made it very clear to the seller how disgusting it is to send clothes out to people in this condition. What's with some people?!

If an item is misdescribed do you loose both your original postage cost and the return postage cost? Or do Vinted give a full refund inc the posting to you and you are “only” out of pocket by your return postage?

Vinted take the return postage out of your original total of product and postage.

I bought some baby items this week described as NEW. They were bobbly, faded, has a mark on, and smelt strongly of washing detergent. I thought about returning but not worth the time or money. I left a slightly negative review but should have been harsher really!
So many sellers advertise as new (but worn)!

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 05/07/2023 14:28

It's worth remembering though, that even if you have the odd thing that needs to go back and
incurs postage costs, it's still cheaper than other options including, usually, eBay. I just accept the risk because I'm still better off overall.

I sent some manky trainers back (the photos of them must have been from years before!) and got a refund; but was shocked to see them relisted (with same photos) shortly thereafter!

Saxendi · 05/07/2023 14:41

I bought an item which was in really poor worn condition, however after I'd raised an issue the buyer cancelled the sale so I was refunded and didn't have to return it. Clearly the buyer must have been aware that what she was selling was not really in very good condition.

I purchased a bag as it was dyne size I was looking for. However clearly the stupid individual can’t use a measuring tape. It arrived 2 inches too big. I have in time reported this and have to wait 48 hours - meantime Vinted have paid the seller??!
