I saw an article on the BEEB earlier regarding older drivers needing to give up driving mainly due to their eyesight failing.
I have a neighbour who I look in on and help, who I think ought to probably stop driving. She doesn't drive all that much (and only in daylight when it's not raining!) and (I think) only for local journeys. I do know her eyesight is very poor though, and she doesn't always wear her glasses.
I've tried to encourage her to get her eyes tested (I don't think her prescription is very up to date). How should I go about approaching the conversation with her about stopping driving? And whilst I do help her here and there already, I don't accidently want to become her designated driver! Should I just mind my own business? Vs. her having some sort of crash and then I'll feel guilty I didn't do anything?
I've noticed ever since lockdown ended there are more very cautious / doddery drivers on the roads. I do think not going out for ages really dented a lot of people's confidence and some of them don't seem to have got it back again.
