Do you know a cushy, easy job? What is it?

My cousin got a promotion taking over from an admin manager. She said to me that, 'this bitch was being paid for nothing.' It's quite technical but easy, however the higher ups don't understand it. It can be done in say 2 full days a week, leaving the rest free.

As a student I was once on reception. No one called and hardly anyone visited. I couldn't leave my desk to be busy elsewhere. So I would study most of the time.

Do you know anyone with a cushy, easy job? What is it?

I think the hardest jobs are ones where you don't have enough to do. Clock watching endlessly is so awful. I'd rather be swamped, look up and realize I should have left 10 mins ago.

Id hate a job like that. I like to be busy and feel useful - not stuck scrolling through the internet (or whatever). I once had a job doing freelance and they literally had nothing for me to do. I'd ask every morning and they'd just tell me to sit tight. Soooo boring. Sure I was getting paid, but producing nothing. So demoralising.
Wouldn't you rather an interesting and challenging role?

I used to work in this sort of job. Not amazingly paid but I earned about £27k to do something incredibly basic. I could get all my work finished within the first 1-2 hours of the day. Some of my more senior colleagues in that place had been there much longer and were earning around £40k for the same role!!

When Covid hit and I started working from home I realised how soul destroying it was. It also ruined my confidence as I couldn’t imagine finding a different job where I’d actually have to do something!

I left that job in 2021 and after a couple of moves, now earn £70k doing a much busier job! But I’m a lot happier for it, even if there are occasionally days where I wish I had nothing to do!

I'm an academic and I find it pretty cushy and easy.

I work my contracted hours - sometimes more - so its not like there's nothing to do.
But the work itself is mostly enjoyable and pretty easy.
I have a huge level of autonomy and flexibility in terms of how I work and what I work on.
I don't have very formal annual reviews or audits or the like.
I get paid very well.

I'm a nurse on a very busy ward. I do agency shifts in district general hospitals. I find that incredibly easy and not at all stressful. As the acuity of the patients is often much lower.

I honestly think that most jobs do not involve people working like lunatics for 14 hours a day. People definitely say their jobs are busier and more stressful than they actually are.
