Don't want to out myself to much here.

I have 3 kids just had my third a few months ago, 2 out of 3 pregnancies I had Gestational diabetes and had to take medication/insulin for my recent pregnancy. I also do take mood stabilisers and anti psychotics for my MH issues which atm are at bay no issues now. I've obviously put on weight like most women who have kids and I have been known to like sweet things, my diet is usually homemade food and slightly bigger portions and less meals so say I eat twice a day and usually skip breakfast. Currently I'm 5ft 3 and 15 stone, to put it straight I look chunky - I'm big everywhere except for my arms. If I lost a bit of weight I could actually have a curvy physique. I lost a bit of weight in my third pregnancy which shocked myself my DP and everyone around us. But I've noticed I'm putting it back on. The medication I take for my ailments don't help either. Does anyone know if the 'skinny jab' would benefit someone like me? The requirements and side effects is enough to put me off!

Does anyone have any skinny jab stories? Positive or negative?

Ask away too! Aslong as it's not to outing I will of course answer.

The medication you're on might be contributing to an increased appetite. Mirtazapine is notorious for this for example so definitely worth having a proper conversation about your medication and how your GP can support you to reducing your BMI.

Something that's more easily available and supportive of a healthy eating plan is Orlistat. That stops your body from absorbing too much fat from the food you eat. The side effects are generally only if you need foods high in fat - but they are unpleasant if you do!

Sometimes we need extra help to lose weight, especially when other medications could be hampering our efforts. Having a sensible conversation with your GP or even practice nurse can make a massive difference - including making sure you're on the right dose of Thyroxine.

Different people get different side effects. Also it makes a difference what dose you are on.

Orlistat is a nightmare if you have any sort of IBS or digestion issues.

A friend of mine had a couple of accidents, I would touch it with a barge pole.

Please don’t OP, someone I knew took slimming pills recently and became seriously ill, and still hasn’t fully recovered. It’s really not worth risking your health, especially as a new mum.

Not necessarily. I have IBS and it hasn't made anything worse, but I do know it's not suitable for everyone (and I'm still waiting to see if it can nudge me into the overweight bracket from obese).

My point is that a proper conversation with a medical professional is worthwhile. Having read about Ozempic vs Orlistat - I know which one sounds less risky in the long term.

But its not the same as slimming pills ? 💊 I'd never touch them. But something that is regulated like the weight loss jabs could help people like myself. The meds I'm on alone mess with my appetite and I'm taking my mood stabilisers etc for the foreseeable - diabetes if I'm diagnosed with will also affect my weight either way. Sorry about your friend!

I have an appointment at a clinic tomorrow and hopefully going to be given ozempic. However I'm on thyroxene 125mg daily. The only guidelines I can find are to adjust the thyroxene as it may effect my blood sugar's. Has anybody had any experience of ozempic and thyroxene or any advice.
I'm almost 15 stone and struggling x

@Flowerylady - what type of clinic is it? It’s not a good time to start Ozempic now because of the shortages. A reputable clinic will look at your thyroxine too I would hope. If not run a mile.
