Would love some personal recommendations if you
have them :)

tbh I’m looking at the budget end even if it’s a false economy. we have a co-sleeping child who may be sick/have accidents. If needed, I want to be able to throw it out without crying, as some are hundreds of pounds!

(Disclaimer: If things are that bad and smells won’t come out- I’m not a wasteful person who bins soiled things immediately)

Would it not just be worth having a duvet in a duvet protector instead?

I'm a convert. Honestly the cheap ones from asda or aldi (seasonal) are absolutely fine for usability. They have a weird texture to them similar to sleeping bags, but after the initial ick of the first night, I found it great for my eczema, and cool for the summer. Great for (my) allergies that you're forced to wash the entire things (I'm co sleeping between a toddler and small child) every time. They air dry within a day, so I only have 1 spare.

No, because I don’t want to change a duvet cover ever again

Mine have genuinely changed my life. Just make sure your washing machine can cope.

We have a night owl one from the fine bedding co. Wouldn’t recommend tbh, I don’t think the quality is great, broken stitching, one of the pillowcases was delivered with a hole at the seam, again to poor stitching. I also find the material quite hot, we have the summer weight duvet. The pluses are I can wash the SK duvet in my 10kg washing machine, it does dry quickly. I bought our duvet as a test, thinking I would buy more for other bedrooms. I haven’t bought anymore.

Oh yeah the kids ones are mostly 4.5 togs. We accidentally bought a 7kg washing machine just before Christmas (2 kids, broken down machine, the oldest still prone to reflux, panic buy from whichever company would deliver before new year, up several flights of stairs...). It will fit a single 10tog, but not a double. If you try to force a king into a 7kg machine, it will rip...

Night Owl, really easy to wash and dries in around an hour just hanging on the line. I have a kingsize. I'm never going back to duvet covers again.

Thanks for the heads up on this!
