Calling all teachers

The parents in my child’s class are all contributing to a voucher for the teachers as the end of year gift. My child has really flourished this year thanks to one particular teacher. I would like to get this teacher a token gift to say thank you for all the hard work she has done with my child. Just something small, but thoughtful. Any thoughts?

Whatever you do, please also send her a thank-you email and copy it to the Head! That's what really makes teachers smile.

A handwritten card - your words really do mean a lot.

Thank you! Great idea about the email! I was going to send a card but hadn’t thought of the email copying in the Head

A bookmark, personalised pen or mug
Brightside do Teacher tins etc ( Campus Gifts)
A card with a message always really welcome

Absolutely a / card email with your thanks. I am a newish teacher and I do treasure anything my children give me but the cards and notes are all scrapbooked so when I have one of those 'why on earth am I teaching' days I can look back and remember that I have made a difference to those that matter (the children).

This 100%. As a teacher, this is one of the things I appreciate the most. I hugely value the heartfelt emails and letters of thanks over chocolate and bottles of wine any day and my head loves getting these emails from parents.

Thank you all! As a parent, you always feel like you have to buy something to show appreciation but it’s nice to know that a thoughtful card or email mean more! Will go with your suggestions x

I have a 'bad day box' with all my lovely little notes and pictures in it... It really helps, doesn't it?!

Sweetener12 · 03/07/2023 06:32

Definitely do a handwritten card! My friend is a teacher and she keeps all the cards from her students because they are so heartwarming to her. You teacher will appreciate it!
Giftwise, maybe something they could use, like a monthly calendar planner or a notebook+pen set.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 03/07/2023 06:53

Just a card/email to the Head. They really are appreciated. And please, please...no more scented candles! I totally appreciate the sentiment behind it, but there's a limit to the number of scented candles any woman needs!

Shinyandnew1 · 03/07/2023 07:09

The nicest things I’ve had as a teacher have been handwritten letters with a personal message (rather than cards which are bulky to keep). I still have them-some of them decades later :)

5childrenand · 03/07/2023 07:17

Definitely a lovely note, there is no need to buy something as well.

CoronationArmy · 03/07/2023 07:21

Email to the head please! Just to remind him how lucky he is to have me!

IFeelSoSoSad · 03/07/2023 07:26

My friend is a teacher, and absolutely prefers a heartfelt message in a card to keep, but also the same message in an email sent to the headteacher is worth a heck of a lot.
