Looking for somewhere to take two teens in the summer from the North East preferably by train for a day or two.

I really want to go to Thorpe park as I have never been but it is too far, we would be in the car 5 hours and is quite expensive.

We loved tbe space centre in Leictester so any attractions like that?

We have done Blackpool, Edinburgh and Scotland, flamingo land and Alton Towers to death.

We are going to london visiting family on another occasion.

Ideal would be an attraction in the day and a town/city for a meal at night.

Does anyone have any ideas?

York is amazing.
Chocolate story and Jorvik museum were big hits with my (young) teens.

Thanks yes it is but too close to us to be a trip away really.

What about a city break, Manchester, Liverpool. Birmingham? Can go for a wonder round and go out for a meal in the night?

Pieceofpurplesky · 02/07/2023 19:03

Chester and the zoo? Combine with a shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks?

PurpleFlower1983 · 02/07/2023 19:04

London by train?

NoClueAboutDecorating · 02/07/2023 19:07

Edinburgh?

(Assuming you mean north east of England)

Riverlee · 02/07/2023 19:12

Also, have you considered Groupon or Tesco vouchers to get meals, tickers etc cheaper?

Zipps · 02/07/2023 19:19

Hull The Deep Beverly for restaurant at night
Buxton has go ape, opera house with various events, lots of cafe's restaurants etc

Well it's £80 for all of you return on the train to Staines if you get a railcard. They're £24 at the moment and it's a 3.5 hour journey.

There are buses to Thorpe park. Or a taxi. It's on the main road. The travelodge there is cheap. So I'd just do that tbh.

It's 5 minutes down the road so about a fiver. You can walk it in just over half an hour.

The travelodge is on a retail park with plenty of places to eat like Nando's or prezzo or whatever, you could get Tesco vouchers for that or blue light if you qualify. There's also a vue cinema on there so you could go there one night.

You'd have to change trains in London so you could make that part of the first day. Arrive into King's Cross, photo at platform 9 3/4 and then a bus up to Camden market for a wander, street food and some Instagram shite for the teens.

Thank you. My dd dad lives in London so Kings x isn't as exciting for them but Thorpe park definitely will be.
Travellodge sounds in a nice location.

It's handy. Just your basic travelodge but it did have a refurb last year. It's across the road from Aldi so you can get all your snacks for the park there. We always take the little pizzas from the bakery and eat them in the queues.

If you can be bothered to just drive it then you can park on the retail park for about £5 a day. If you drove you'd be only 20 mins or so from chessington and Legoland. Worth looking at Merlin passes maybe?

I may drive as train is coming out at £210 with rail card. Just don't know if I can face 5 hours. 🤣
